Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan welcomed the Supreme Court’s recent decision on the NEET-UG examination. In a press conference, Pradhan announced that the revised merit list and final results of the NEET-UG can be expected to be released on or before 25th July, as per the court’s observations. On July 23rd, the Supreme Court rejected appeals for the cancellation and re-administration of the NEET-UG 2024 exam, determining that there was no significant evidence suggesting that systemic breaches had compromised the examination’s integrity.

“Satyamev Jayate—Truth has prevailed,” declared Pradhan, underscoring the Court’s affirmation of the government’s position that there were no significant leaks. He reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining the examination’s integrity, with a firm zero-tolerance policy towards any irregularities. Pradhan stressed that those found guilty of misconduct would face serious consequences.

In related news, over 4 lakh candidates who took the undergraduate National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test will see a deduction of 5 marks from their total scores. The Supreme Court ruled on July 23rd that there was only one correct answer to a disputed question in the physics section, as reported by media sources. The Court has directed the National Testing Agency to revise the results according to the option deemed correct by an expert team from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
