Delhi school holidays: The last week of November brought an immense sense of joy for the residents of Delhi NCR. However, it also brought an air which had nothing but smoke and pollution. The impact of pollution was seen in the areas of Delhi NCR including Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram. The AQI in several areas of Delhi and Noida crossed the 400 mark and as a result there was a question whether the schools of Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram will reopen on time after Diwali vacation.

Here’s all you need to know about the school holidays in Delhi NCR.

Are schools open in Delhi NCR?

The classes in Delhi schools stared from Monday. Yet, the larger section of educational institutions opted to skip the morning assembly due to the pollution in the air. Outdoor pursuits and physical fitness programs have been put on hold for the time being. Meanwhile, quite a few schools are advocating for students to wear masks as a precaution. Parents are also being nudged to amp up preventive measures, hinting that their kids should avoid outdoor play and activities for some time.

After Diwali last year, for the first-ever time, concerns about pollution led to the temporary closure of schools across the Delhi NCR region. Traditional education took a quick turn on to the online platform during this shutdown period.

School closure for Chhath Puja

This year, the notable holiday of Chhath Puja on November 7th will again see the closure of a number of schools, thanks to an announcement by Delhi’s Chief Minister Atishi. The occasion is being recognized as a public holiday.

In most of the schools of Delhi NCR, students have been advised to wear masks. Additionally, in order to mitigate the impact of pollution, children’s outdoor activities and sports periods have also been stopped for the time being in most schools.
