1 Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the first full-fledged Sainik School for Girls in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh
Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the first full-fledged Sainik School for Girls, Sanvid Gurukulam Sainik School, at Vrindavan , Mathura in Uttar Pradesh on January 01, 2024 . In this school, education and training will be provided to 870 girl students. This school has been inaugurated as part of the initiative to establish 100 new Sainik Schools in partnership with NGOs/Private/State Government schools in all States and Union Territories, out of which 42 schools have been established. These schools are to be created in addition to the existing 33 Sainik Schools, which are already running the program under the earlier pattern. It is worth remembering that Shri Rajnath Singh in 2019 had approved the admission of girls in Sainik Schools in a phased manner for the academic session 2021-22 . The decision was taken after the success of the pilot project launched by the Defense Ministry at Sainik School Chhingchhip in Mizoram .
2 ISRO successfully launches X-ray Polarimeter satellite for the first time to study black holes and neutron stars in the Milky Way
Indian Space Research Organization – ISRO launched X-ray Polarimeter Satellite-EXPOSAT into space from Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle- PSLV-C58 . The launch was carried out on January 1, 2024 at 9:10 am from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh . Along with this, ten other scientific payloads were also launched. This mission represents India’s first dedicated scientific effort to study the polarization of cosmic X-rays from astronomical sources. After this launch, India has become the second country to send a specialized astronomical observatory to study black holes and neutron stars . ISRO Chairman S. Somnath said that Exposat has been launched successfully. The 10 other payloads launched with Exposat are from institutions like Take Me to Space, LBS Institute of Technology for Women, KJ Soumya Institute of Technology, Inspatiity Space Labs Pvt Ltd, Dhruv Space Pvt Ltd, Bellatrix Aerospace Pvt Ltd and three from ISRO. Payloads are included. It was the first launch of the year and the holiday season, so the space center’s viewing gallery was filled with enthusiastic crowds of people of all ages.

The government has extended the deadline for Production Linked Incentive Scheme-PLI for Automobiles and Auto Parts by one year with partial modifications . The production based incentive scheme will be applicable for five consecutive financial years starting from the financial year 2023-24 . Incentive benefits will be given in the next financial year 2024-25 . According to the scheme, the applicant will be eligible for benefits for five consecutive financial years, but will not be eligible for more than the financial year ending March 31, 2028 . If the approved company fails to exceed the prescribed limit in sales in the first year, it will not get the incentive for that year. However, on completing the scheduled sales the company will be eligible for profit in the next year. At the same time, if an approved company makes sales more than the prescribed price for the first year, then it will be able to get incentives for the concerned year. The objective of this provision, which is more than value, is to ensure a level playing field for all companies and to protect the interest of companies making advance payments in investment. The ministry said the amendments are expected to provide a boost to the automobile sector due to greater clarity and make the sector growth-oriented and competitive.

Students from Scheduled Caste community belonging to marginalized income group with annual income up to Rs 2.5 lakh are eligible under this scheme.

The Government of India has re-enrolled 34 lakh farmers under its PM-KISAN programme . Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana provides annual income support of Rs 6,000 to farmers in three installments . Eligible landholding families with annual income less than Rs 6 lakh get Rs 2,000 every four months. More than 12 crore farmers have received funds under the program since its 2019 launch. Before the decline, enrollment had reached an all-time high of 10.47 crore during April-July 2022. This number had fallen to 8.57 crore by August-November 2022 and to 8.12 crore in December 2022-March 2023. Due to this, the total disbursement also reduced from Rs 67,121 crore in 2021-22 to only Rs 58,258 crore in 2022-23.
