India & Maldives – 4th Defense Cooperation Meeting

  • 4th Defense Cooperation Dialogue (DCD) between India and Maldives was held at Male, Maldives. India’s Defense Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane and his Maldivian counterpart Abdulla Shamaal attended the meeting.
  • During the dialogue the ongoing bilateral defense cooperation activities were discussed. They both agreed to increase the capacity of the drills and planned for further more ties in the future.

Merger of Credit Suisse with UBS

  • Switzerland’s largest bank UBS will take over the small bank Credit Suisse in a move to avoid financial crisis and to enhance Market stability, said Swiss National Bank.
  • Credit Suisse is regarded as one of the globally systematic banks .

The list of the happiest countries in the world has been released

  • Finland has topped the list of the happiest countries in the world for the 6th time in a row. India is at the 136th place in the list.
  • War-torn Afghanistan tops the list of unhappiest countries.

Tamil Nadu Budget 2023

  • The budget for the financial year 2023-24 was tabled in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. This was filed by Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan. Highlights of Tamil Nadu Budget:
  • 1000 stipend for qualified heads of households from September 15, Schools of sectors including SC/ST now under School Education Department, New Pannokub Unit at Stanley Hospital, Rs 120 Crore Innovation Initiatives in Ambattur, Skill Training Centre, ‘Father Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary’ in Erode District, Rs 1000 crore includes the Ayodhya Pandit Housing Development Project etc.

Saurashtra-Tamil Confluence

  • The ‘Saurashtra Tamil Sangam’ program jointly organized by the Central Government and the State Government of Gujarat was held in Guindy, Chennai. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched the ‘logo’ and website saurashtra.nitt.edu during the event.
  • This time the administration of Trichy NIT is making arrangements for the Saurashtra Tamil Sangam event in Gujarat.

First transgender lawyer in Kerala

  • Padma Lakshmi became the first transgender lawyer in the state of Kerala. Padma Lakshmi to Kerala Industries Minister B. Rajiv congratulated.
  • Padma Lakshmi completed her graduation in Physics and pursued her LLB from Government Law College, Ernakulam. Aims to clear judicial career exam after training.

Kumizhithoombu inscription found at Tirumangalam

  • An inscription which describes the Water Resource Management (kumizhithumbu) in the period of Nayakars found in Kuraayur,a place near Thirumangalam.
  • In the Inscription ,there was written 31 lines on one side and 8 lines on another side in Tamil language.After the estimation of Archeaologist ,it is found to be 400 years old.

IndianWells Tennis: Bopanna-Epton champion

  • India’s Rogan Bopanna and Australia’s Matthew Ebden took on top seed Wesley Koolhope and Niall Kupski in the men’s doubles final at the ongoing IndianWells international tennis tournament in the United States. Bopanna-Ebten won the match 6-3, 2-6, 10-8.
  • This is Bopanna’s 5th title in tennis. Through this Bopanna A.T.P. He holds the record for being the oldest player to win a Masters1000 tennis tournament.

A world-class football academy to be launched in Mahabalipuram

  • FC Madras launches Football Academy in Mahabalipuram with world-class accommodation. An education program that integrates education and life skills has been developed with the aim of providing full incentives to talented footballers and providing infrastructure facilities in sports.
  • Spread over an area of 23 acres, football fields have been created with lights to play at night.

World Sparrow Day

  • Every year March 20th is celebrated as World Sparrow Day all over the world. Its main objective is to create awareness among people about saving endangered species of birds. Sparrow is noted as the state bird of Bihar.
  • The theme of World Sparrow Day 2023 : “I Love Sparrows” with the goal of encouraging more people to appreciate the relationship between humans and sparrows.
