The Patna High Court recently addressed the status of Niyojit teachers (Panchayat teachers) in Bihar, asserting that the latest service rules do not entail removal for those who fail competency tests. Chief Justice K. Vinod Chandran and Justice Harish Kumar clarified that qualifying in the test would enhance service conditions, but failure wouldn't lead to termination. Around 3.5 lakh contractual teachers in Bihar will become government employees upon passing these tests, as per the Exclusive Teachers Rules-2023.
