Congress has secured a clear majority in the Karnataka assembly elections . According to the latest Election Commission data, the Congress has won 135 of the 224 assembly seats in the state. Bharatiya Janata Party 66 seats Have won Janata Dal-Secular is at number three with 19 seats. Four seats have gone to the accounts of others. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai defeated Yasir Ahmed Khan Pathan of Congress by a margin of about 36,000 votes in Shiggaon seat. Former Chief Minister and Janata Dal-Secular’s HD Kumaraswamy has won the Chennapatna seat by a margin of 16,000 votes. Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, who recently left the BJP and joined the Congress, was defeated by the BJP candidate by more than 34,000 votes in the Hubballi-Dharwad Central seat.

4 Union Ministry of Agriculture released data related to increase in sowing area of summer crops​

The sowing area of pulses and coarse cereals has increased this year as compared to last year . The Union Agriculture Ministry has released data related to the increase in the area sown to summer crops. The area under pulses has increased to 19 lakh 61 thousand hectare; While last year it was 18 lakh hectare. The area under millets has also increased from 11 lakh 30 thousand hectare to 11 lakh 73 thousand hectare. On the other hand, the area under paddy has decreased and it has decreased from 29 lakh 80 thousand hectare to 27 lakh 89 thousand hectare. The area sown in other summer crops has also marginally decreased to 69.20 lakh hectare as against 70 lakh hectare in the same period last year.

5 With the aim of increasing public awareness, a four-day Shree Anna Utsav begins in Dehradun, Uttarakhand from today.​

The four-day ShreeAnn Mahotsav is starting in the capital Dehradun in Uttarakhand . Its purpose is to make people aware of the health benefits of millets and to discuss the potential of production of millets in the state. The participation of Agriculture Ministers, scientists and farmers of other states along with Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar is also taking place in this festival. The festival has been organized for the purpose of attracting people towards the production of millets. There is a target to double the production of coarse cereals by the year 2025 in the state. Uttarakhand Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi said that the state government has made a provision of Rs 73 crore in the current financial year for the promotion of millets. 134 stalls are being set up in the festival.

Jayant Vishnu Narlikar is the most fitting and deserving recipient of the first Govind Swarup Lifetime Achievement Award of the Astronomical Society of India (ASI) , an outstanding astronomer, Inter-University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) , was also the founder director of Pune and former chairman of ASI. Although the award was announced earlier this year at the 41st meeting of the ASI held at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore, Professor Narlikar was unable to travel to receive it. ASI President Prof. Dipankar Banerjee, Prof. Narlikar was present in Pune to personally hand over the award and felicitate him.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has taken a major initiative towards centralizing the winding up process of companies with the setting up of Center for Faster Corporate Exit Processing (C-PACE). The setting up of C-PACE will help in reducing the unnecessary burden on the Registry besides making the Registry equitable, with availability of more meaningful data to the stakeholders. C-Pace will also benefit the stakeholders with hassle free filing, timely and process-bound removal of their company names from the Register. The setting up of C-PACE is part of a number of measures taken by the MCA in the recent past towards ease of doing business and ease of exit for companies.

18 RBI imposes Rs 1.73 crore fine on HSBC Bank​

20 Government panel proposes to ban diesel 4-wheelers by 2027​

A panel constituted by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has recommended that the use of diesel-powered four-wheelers should be banned in India by 2027. Also, to cut carbon emissions, cities with a population of more than one million and polluted cities should switch to electricity and gas-powered vehicles. In fact, India is one of the largest emitters of greenhouse gases. To achieve the zero emission target by 2070, India wants to produce 40 per cent of its electricity needs from renewable energy.
