Aligarh : The STS School at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) hosted the AMU Schools Principals’ Conclave on “Climate Change and Sustainability Education for a Safer Planet” on April 16. The conclave brought together educational leaders, teachers, and experts to deliberate on the crucial role of education in addressing environmental challenges.
Opening the event, Prof. Asfar Ali Khan, Director of the Directorate of School Education, AMU, and Prof. Mohd Rihan, from the Department of Electricity, set a collaborative tone for the discussions. Mr. Aditya Pundir, Director of The Climate Reality Project India and South, delivered a comprehensive presentation on climate change and sustainability education, stressing the urgency of educating students on these pressing issues.
The conclave witnessed the active participation of Principals from various AMU Schools, demonstrating their commitment to integrating climate change and sustainability education into their curricula. Teachers also played an important role, highlighting their influence in shaping students’ understanding of environmental issues.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Faisal Nafis, Principal of STS School, emphasized the importance of collective action in combating climate change.
The Principals’ Conclave served as a collaborative platform for sharing insights, strategies, and best practices, highlighting the vital role of schools and educators in fostering a sustainable and environmentally conscious society.
