The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Justice SV Bhatti as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.

The apex court website has published the resolution recommending the same.

Justice SV Bhatti is the senior-most Judge from the High Court of Andhra Pradesh and is presently functioning, but is currently positioned , as the senior most judge of the Kerala High Court after his transfer.

The office of Chief Justice of Kerala High Court is set to fall vacant shortly with the retirement of incumbent Chief Justice S Manikumar slated to take place on April 24.

It was noted by the Collegium that Justice Bhatti’s experience as a senior puisne judge in two High Courts would be useful for him in dispensing justice as Chief Justice of the High Court of Kerala.

The Collegium further said that there is no judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh who is serving as Chief Justice of any High Court.

The Collegium resolution said that having regard to all relevant factors, the Collegium is of the considered view that Mr Justice S V Bhatti is fit and suitable in all respects to be appointed as Chief Justice of the High Court of Kerala,”
