Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud on Wednesday congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the scientific community of the country for successfully achieving the soft landing of Chandrayaan 3 on the moon’s surface.

India today became the first country in the world to successfully achieve a soft landing on the south pole of the moon.

Terming it as a matter of great pride for the nation, the CJI said that the lunar landing will open up new avenues for research and discovery.

He said with immense pride, he witnessed the remarkable landing of Chandrayaan 3 on the moon as a citizen of this great nation.

As per the CJI, the success of the lunar mission has places India in a select group of nations, which have successfully achieved landing on the lunar surface.

He said it was all the more significant because India has become the only nation to have achieved a lunar landing on the south pole of the moon.

This achievement would aid new avenues in scientific research and discovery. This lunar landing represented a milestone in the onward march of India, added the CJI.

He congratulated team ISRO and the entire scientific community of the country, saying that they have ‘truly made the nation proud of their work’.
