The steel industry needs to adopt innovative practices to reduce its environmental impact, according to India's Special Chief Secretary for environment, forest, science and technology, Neerabh Kumar Prasad. Speaking at a conference organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry in Andhra Pradesh, Prasad said steelmakers have a crucial role to play in India's drive towards a $5tn economy, but must adopt renewable energy and better management of resources.
