Athletes from CGC Landran have brought laurels to the institution by clinching the overall champions’ trophy at the recently held 25th Annual Inter College Athletics Meet of I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (I.K.G.P.T.U), Kapurthala. Bagging a rich haul of 41 medals which included 21 gold medals, 09 silver medals and 11 bronze medals, the athletes from CGC outshone more than 40 teams participating in the athletic meet from the University’s affiliated colleges across Punjab.
CGC’s B.Tech, ECE student, Kirat Mehta, was conferred with the Best Athlete (Male) trophy while another B.Tech, CSE student, Mukul Dhamu, set a new record of 1.58 meters in the High Jump category at the athletics meet. Other athletes who made their mark at the event with their outstanding performances included B.Tech students- Komal who bagged two gold medals in the 800-metre race and 400-metre hurdles (women) and Vaidai who won gold in the 3,000-metre race (women).
Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran applauded the students for this remarkable feat and congratulated them for bringing glory to CGC. He appreciated their hard work, training and discipline and assured them of CGC’s full support in every aspect of their journey towards participation in future sports events.
This inter college athletics event saw student athletes competing in 16 games including track and field games such as Races, Relay races, Hurdles, High-Jump, Long Jump, Shotput, Discuss Throw, Javelin Throw, Hammer Throw, among others.
