CHENNAI : The industry sponsored Tribology and Interactive Surfaces Research Laboratory (TRISUL) of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Chennai campus, in partnership with Caravan Reliability Services, successfully conducted a two-day Certificate Course on Industrial Bearings and Failure Analysis from December 6–7, 2024.
The program brought together professionals from renowned organizations like Castrol, Sandvik, Mosil Lubricants, Jayachandra Bearings, ENGIE, DRDO, Rain Cements, and Flenders, alongside academicians and industry experts. Participants gained hands-on exposure to cutting-edge techniques such as ultrasound and thermographic condition monitoring, centralized lubrication systems, laser shaft alignment, and advanced tribometers.
Key highlights of the course:
Dr. Bhaumik shared updates on tribological trends and laboratory studies, while Mr. Kambley provided an industrial perspective backed by 28+ years of experience. Additionally, Mr. Shail Mavani, Director of Mosil Lubricants, and Mr. Sunil Mehta, Technical Advisor at Mosil Lubricants, contributed valuable insights into the lubricant industry and its integration with tribology.
The course concluded with felicitations by Prof. V. Jayakumar, Principal of Amrita School of Engineering & Computing, Chennai, and Cmde. Ravi Sankar, Additional Director & Head, Corporate and Industry Relations, emphasizing the campus’s commitment to fostering industry-academia collaboration.
