On 23-06-2024, the Department of Personnel and Training of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions notified the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Rules, 2024 to supplement the . These Rules came into force on 23-06-2024.

Key Points:


  1. Following are some of the important provisions laid down by the 2024 Rules:

    • Chapter II provides for the engagement of services of other government agencies by public examination authority for the conduct of the public examination.


    • Chapter III lays down the provisions for the activities included in the computer-based test.


    • Chapter IV provides for the preparation of norms, standards, and guidelines by the National Recruitment Agency for the computer-based test mode of examination.


    • Chapter V provides for assigning the duty of ‘Centre Coordinator’ for public examinations to serving/retired employees of the Central/State government, Public Sector Undertakings, Public Sector Banks, Government universities, autonomous bodies, and other Government organizations.


    • Chapter VI provides for reporting incidents of unfair means or offences through a report prepared by the venue-in-charge with his findings in Form 1.


    • Chapter VII lays down the procedure to be followed by the public examination authority regarding the actions of a public servant appointed for the conduct of public examinations.


    • Chapter VIII provides for setting up of a mechanism for monitoring the implementation of the provisions of the .
