Central University of Odisha publishes the first inter disciplinary book under its Publication Unit

The Central University of Odisha has published in two volumes the book titled, The Journey of Development in India: Reflections on Economic & Communication Scenario’ and jointly edited by Dr. Minati Sahoo, Assistant Professor & HOD (I/C), Dep’t of Economics and Dr. Sourav Gupta, Assistant Professor, Dep’t of Journalism & Mass Communication.

The book was officially released on 9 April 2024 by Prof Chakradhar Tripathi, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, CUO in the presence of Prof N C Panda, Registrar, CUO along with a galaxy of academics from Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, New Delhi including, Prof Arun Kr Bhardwaj, HOD, Academic Unit, IGNCA, Prof Sudhir Lall, HOD, Kala Kosh Division, IGNCA, Prof Anil Kumar, HOD, Janapada Sampada, IGNCA and Prof D C Choubey, HOD, East Asian Studies, IGNCA.

On this occasion, Prof Tripathi, said that this was a remarkable achievement as the book is the first interdisciplinary book of CUO as it was brought out by a collaboration of Faculty members of two disciplines, Economics and Journalism & Mass Communication. Further, Prof Tripathi informed that this is the first book published by CUO in its name after constitution of its Publication Unit.

The book is a collection of 49 selected papers in two volumes presented in the International Seminar organized jointly by Dep’t of Economics and Dep’t of J & MC on 28 & 29 March 2023. It has papers by eminent scholars of both disciplines. The Foreword is written by Prof Jan Servaes, Former UNESCO Chair for Communication in Sustainable Social Change and Prof Prasant Kr Panda, HOD, Dep’t of Economics, Pondicherry University. The book is distributed by Gyan Geeta Prakashan, New Delhi.
