The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the application deadlines for its merit-based scholarship schemes, including the Single Girl Child Scholarship for Class 10 students. This move aims to provide eligible candidates with extra time to apply, ensuring no deserving student is left out.

The Single Girl Child Scholarship offers a monthly grant of ₹500. To qualify, the tuition fee for Class 10 must not exceed ₹1,500 per month, with a 10% permissible hike for Classes 11 and 12. Detailed eligibility criteria and application forms are available on the CBSE website.

DU proposes seat reservation for single girl child

Delhi University (DU) is considering a proposal to reserve one seat in each postgraduate program for single girl children, beginning with the 2025-26 academic session. The Academic Council is set to deliberate on the initiative during its meeting on Friday, December 27, 2024.

This follows a similar reservation introduced at the undergraduate level in 2023-24, which successfully enrolled 764 students across 69 colleges. If approved, the new policy will apply to all 77 postgraduate programs.

Postgraduate admissions at DU are conducted via the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) and the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). Last year, over 90,000 applicants competed for 13,500 seats.
