Scientists evaluate the safety and efficacy of birthing balls and peanut balls as nonpharmacologic interventions during labor. Findings indicate that birthing balls reduce maternal pain, and peanut balls decrease the duration of the first stage of labor, suggesting their effectiveness and safety as adjuncts to labor management techniques.
