1 BJP is going to form government in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh; Congress gets full majority in Telangana​

The results of assembly elections in four statesMadhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Telangana have been received. Bharatiya Janata Party has got a clear majority in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan . Congress will form government in Telangana . Voting was held for 199 seats out of total 200 in Rajasthan . The election for Karanpur seat in Sriganganagar was postponed due to the death of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh. Results and trends of all 199 seats have been received. Bharatiya Janata Party has won 115 seats. The ruling Congress has won 69 seats. Bharat Adivasi Party won three seats while Bahujan Samaj Party won two seats and Rashtriya Lok Dal and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party won one seat each. Eight independent candidates also emerged victorious. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has won the Sardarpura seat . BJP leader and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje won from Jhalrapatan. The results of all 230 seats in
Madhya Pradesh
have come. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has won 163 seats. Congress won 55 seats. One seat went to Bharat Adivasi Party. BJP is returning to power in Chhattisgarh after five years. Results of all 90 seats have been received. Bharatiya Janata Party has won 54 seats. The ruling Congress has won 35 seats. Gondwana Gantantra Party has won one seat. Results for all 119 seats in Telangana are available. Congress has won 64 seats. Bharat Rashtra Samiti has 39 seats. Bharatiya Janata Party has won 8 seats. AI MIM has won 7 seats. The Communist Party of India won one seat. The by-election for Tapi Assembly reserved seat in Nagaland was won by Wangpang Konyak of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party .

2 President Draupadi Murmu presents National Awards for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities International​

President Draupadi Murmu has emphasized on empowering the disabled . Presenting the National Award on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in New Delhi , he said that 15 per cent of the world’s population is disabled . President Murmu said that the struggle of the disabled and their achievements are a source of inspiration for the people. The President presented a total of 30 awards to individuals, institutions, organizations, states and districts for their remarkable efforts towards the empowerment of persons with disabilities. On this occasion, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar said that more than one crore special disabled identity cards have been made to provide benefits of government schemes to the disabled people. He said that a provision of four percent reservation in employment has been made for the disabled.

3. India re-elected to International Maritime Organization with highest votes​

India was re-elected to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council with the highest number of votes in the elections held on Friday in its Assembly for the biennial term 2024-25 . It is included in the category of “ 10 nations with the greatest interest in international maritime trade ” . Along with India, the names of Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and United Arab Emirates (UAE) are included in this category. India has received massive support from the international community in the International Maritime Organization to continue serving the global maritime domain. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) is the leading authority regulating the maritime industry, supporting global trade, transportation and all maritime operations. The Indian delegation was led by Shri T.K. Ramachandran, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

4 Malaria Landscape in 2022: India tops in cases recorded in South and Southeast​

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) , India led South and Southeast Asia in malaria cases recorded in 2022 , accounting for 66% of the 5.2 million cases recorded in the region. The World Malaria Report 2023, released on November 30, 2023, said India saw a 55% reduction in cases, even though it had the highest number of cases. The report emphasizes the direct and indirect effects of climate change on malaria transmission. Climate change interacts with the sensitivity of the malaria pathogen and vector (female Anopheles mosquitoes) to temperature, precipitation and humidity, potentially facilitating disease spread.

5 High powered committee formed to address concerns of Ladakh​

The Union Home Ministry has officially notified the reconstitution of the high-powered committee appointed to address the concerns of the Ladakh region. The move comes in the wake of the long-running agitation in the region since August 2019 following the revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcation into two union territories. The reconstituted 15-member committee, headed by Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, includes eight government representatives. Notable members are Lieutenant Governor Brigadier B D Mishra (retd), Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and Chairman of Autonomous Hill Development Councils of Kargil and Leh. Both the districts will be represented by seven members each, which will include leaders from various organizations like Apex Body, Leh, Ladakh Buddhist Association and others. The mandate of this committee includes important issues like security of land and employment for Ladakh residents. The discussions will also focus on empowering the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils (LAHDCs) and exploring constitutional safeguards.

6 Kanchan Devi becomes the first woman Director General of ICFRE​

In an important milestone, Kanchan Devi, a 1991-batch Indian Forest Service officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as the Director General (DG) of the Indian Council of Forestry Research Education (ICFRE). This is a historic moment as Kanchan becomes the first woman officer to hold this prestigious post in the key council under the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

7 Mysterious White Lung Syndrome spreading across the world including America​

A new strain of bacterial pneumonia , commonly called ‘ white lung syndrome ‘, is causing concern in various countries, including China, Denmark, the US and the Netherlands . The disease, which mainly affects children aged three to eight years, is associated with lung damage that appears as white spots on X-rays . The term ‘white lung syndrome’ covers a variety of respiratory conditions, including:
Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) : a serious pulmonary condition that causes fluid to accumulate in the alveoli of the lungs, resulting in difficulty breathing. ARDS can be triggered by factors such as pneumonia, sepsis, and trauma.
Pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis (PAM): An uncommon disorder of the lungs marked by calcium deposits in the air sacs, causing symptoms such as shortness of breath, cough, and chest pain.
Silicosis : A respiratory disease caused by the inhalation of silica dust, commonly found in materials such as sand and stone. Symptoms may include shortness of breath, cough and chest pain.

8 United Nations: Global climate impacts agriculture​

A recent UN analysis shows that agriculture is the most climate-impacted sector globally , with 40% of countries facing direct economic losses . The report, released by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on December 1, 2023, adds significant importance to the ongoing discussions at the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Dubai.

9 Union Tourism Ministry launches National Best Tourism Village Contest and National Best Rural Homestay Contest 2024​

The Union Ministry of Tourism has launched the National Best Tourism Village Competition and National Best Rural Homestay Competition 2024 to promote and develop rural tourism in the country . The ministry said the government has launched a national policy for promotion of rural homestays as well as a comprehensive national policy and action plan for the development of rural tourism. To create a conducive environment for the development of rural tourism, the Ministry is actively engaged with industry stakeholders, NGOs and local communities through these competitions. The Ministry has said that the objectives of the competitions are to develop healthy competition among villages and rural homestays to identify and reward outstanding contributions to rural tourism. Applications for competitions can be sent till 31st of this month. In the first edition of the National Best Tourism Village Competition 2023, 35 villages from across the country were recognized in the Gold, Silver and Bronze categories.

10 Dixon Technology’s new factory inaugurated in Uttar Pradesh​

Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnav inaugurated the new factory of Dixon Technology in Noida , Uttar Pradesh . This will give a boost to the smart phone ecosystem. On this occasion, Shri Vaishnav said that the new manufacturing unit of Dixon will provide employment to five thousand people. He said that the government’s production linked incentive scheme – PLI has provided employment to five lakh people in the mobile phone industry across the country. Emphasizing the need to manufacture superior products, Shri Vaishnav said that the development of equipment design and manufacturing ecosystem in India is encouraging. Praising the efforts of the Uttar Pradesh government, he said that 60 percent of the country’s mobile phones are being manufactured in this state alone.

11 INS Kadmatt visits Yokosuka, Japan from 02-05 December​

INS Kadmatt , on long range operational deployment in the North Pacific Ocean, entered Yokosuka, Japan on 02 December 2023 for Operational Turnaround (OTR) . During this stay, onboard visits including professional interactions and community welfare activities have been planned. The interaction with Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) will include cross-ship visits, professional exchange of views, joint yoga camp and coordination meeting for Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX). At Yokosuka, the ship will celebrate Navy Day on 04 December 2023 in the presence of the Indian diaspora in Japan.

12 Delhi High Court examines ‘Walk with Wildlife’ program at Asola Sanctuary​

The Delhi High Court has raised concerns regarding the ” Walk with Wildlife ” program proposed by the Forest Department of the Delhi Government at the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary . Questions were raised regarding the lack of accurate count of the sanctuary’s fauna, including leopards , making the Court skeptical about introducing people to wildlife without knowing its numbers. There is also a need to divide such places into core and buffer areas. However there is no such demarcation in the sanctuary. Covering an area of 32.71 sq km on the South Delhi Ridge of the Aravalli hill range on the Delhi-Haryana border, the Asola-Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary is located in South Delhi as well as the northern parts of Faridabad and Gurugram districts of Haryana state.

14 VR Lalitambika received France’s highest civilian award​

The French government has appointed Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) scientist Dr. V.R. Honored Lalitambika with its top award. Ambassador Thierry Matthau gave this honor to Dr. Lalitambika for her participation in space cooperation between France and India . Lalitambika, former director of ISRO’s Human Spaceflight Program Directorate, has been awarded the country’s top civilian award – Legion d’Honneur .

17 Kenya’s Kemei Elias Kaprono wins the 37th Pune International Marathon​

Kemei Elias Kaprono of Kenya has won the 37th Pune International Marathon in Pune . Ethiopia ‘s Simon Maina Mongi stood second and Adere Halu stood third. The full-marathon started from Sanas Maidan at 3.30 am while the half-marathon started at 4.00 am. Apart from this, competitions were organized in several categories like ten kilometer, five kilometer and three kilometer in which hundreds of participants took part. Pune Municipal Corporation has given Rs 25 lakh to the winners of the competition. The theme of this year’s marathon is – Run for environmental protection.

In response, the Australian team could score only 154 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Axar Patel was declared player of the match due to his good performance in batting and bowling .
