The government of Bihar, under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has faced criticism for removing the names of over 20 lakh students from government schools for absenteeism. The list includes 2.66 lakh students who were supposed to appear for board exams. The Education Department initiated the drive to improve attendance after instructions from the Additional Chief Secretary.
