BEN & GAWS emerged victorious in the 17th edition of the Manav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge, triumphing over 24 participating teams

The grand conclusion of the 17th edition of the Manav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge Cup saw BEN & GAWS emerging victorious in the final match against RJMT Engineering (Faridabad). The Closing Ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Vikas Matta, the Plant Head (Gurugram & Daruhera) of Hero Motocorp Gurugram’s plant, as the Chief Guest.

Dr. Prashant Bhalla – President, MREI; Dr. Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI; Dr. NC Wadhwa, DG, MREI; Mr. Rajiv Kapoor, MD, MREI; Dr. Sanjay Srivastava – VC, MRIIRS; Mr. Sarkar Talwar – Director, Sports, MREI and other senior dignitaries from Manav Rachna were present during the final match.

BEN & GAWS won the toss and elected to bat first. BEN & GAWS scored 235 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in 16 overs. RJMT Engineering scored 143 runs at the loss of 10 wickets in 12 overs.

BEN & GAWS won the match with Mr. Pranjal from BEN & GAWS winning the title of ‘Man of the Match’, Mr. Maneesh Deshwal from TCS team was awarded as the Player of the tournament, and was awarded the brand new Hero Xoom Scooter. Mr. Sunil from RJMT Engineering became the Best Batsman of the Tournament; Mr Avinash Pratap from RJMT Engineering bagged the title of the ‘Best Bowler of the Tournament’; and Mr. Navneet from BEN & GAWS was declared the ‘Best Fielder of the Tournament’. Special prize was given to Mr. Rahul Kalra from TCS. Fair Play Trophy was awarded to Team Indian Oil (R&D).

Expressing his delight, Dr Prashant Bhalla said, “With this tournament, the vision of our Founder Visionary lives on, fostering camaraderie, teamwork, and healthy competition among participants, embodying the ethos of fair play and excellence in every match played.”

Dr. Amit Bhalla expressed, “Dr. OP Bhalla initiated this tournament with a vision of fostering collaboration between educational institutions and industries on a unified platform. We are delighted that, together, we are fulfilling the aspirations of our founder with every accomplishment.”

Mr. Vikas Matta emphasized that the Manav Rachna Cricket Challenge serves more than just a tournament; it acts as a catalyst for promoting teamwork. He expressed satisfaction in witnessing both teams display remarkable sportsmanship and mutual encouragement throughout the match.

Dr. Sanjay Srivastava said, “Participating in such tournaments provides corporate individuals with a valuable opportunity to relax and rejuvenate, while also offering a platform for mutual skill development both amongst themselves and on the cricket field.”

Mr. Sarkar Talwar highlighted the longstanding commitment of Manav Rachna in promoting both sports and education in tandem. He said, “Such endeavors are only achievable through the collective inspiration of everyone within the institute and the collaborative support of industries.”

24 leading corporate teams from Delhi-NCR competed for the cup viz. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (Gurugram), JCB India Ltd (Ballabhgarh), Tata Consultancy Service (Noida), Hero Motocorp India Ltd (Gurugram), Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Ltd (Gurugram), Wave Infratech (Noida), SEC – RJMT Engineering (Faridabad), Sarvodaya Hospital (Faridabad), Knorr-Bremse (Palwal), Action Construction Equipment Ltd (Faridabad), Accord Hospital (Greater Faridabad), Media XI (Delhi), Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (Faridabad), NHAI (Delhi), Aaj Tak (Delhi), Indian Oil R&D (Faridabad), Sony India Ltd (Delhi), Jagran Group (Noida), BEN & GAWS (Delhi), Adidas, (Gurugram), Manitou Equipment India Ltd. (Noida), Pinelab Pvt. Ltd. (Gurugram), REPL Group (New Delhi) and Suzuki Motorcycle (Gurugram).

A total of 47 matches were played amongst the participants every weekend starting from January.
