Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced plans to introduce tribal languages as a medium of instruction in the foundational and preparatory stages of school education. The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) will provide textbooks in languages like Mising, Deuri, Dimasa, Tiwa, and more. This initiative aims to start primary education in students' mother tongues before transitioning to regional or English language for secondary school education, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
