The Asian Development Bank will give a US$400 million loan to Bangladesh for the construction of a 102-km dual gauge railway between Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar to boost trade, investment and tourism . The loan agreement was signed between representatives of ADB and the Government of Bangladesh in Dhaka. The new rail link is expected to open this year. It aims to provide transport facility to 29 lakh passengers annually between Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar by 2024. The Chattogram–Cox’s Bazar Railway is part of the Trans-Asia Railway Network, a United Nations-led initiative that aims to provide seamless rail connectivity between Asia and Europe to better connect people and markets.

Greece ‘s centre-right leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be sworn in as Prime Minister for the second time. With a vote count of 99.67 percent, Mitsotakis’ New Democracy party won the parliamentary election with 40.55 percent of the vote, more than double the main opposition party Syriza ‘s 17.84 percent. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare signed an MoU with Pixel Space India Pvt Ltd in New Delhi . Shri CS Murthy, Director, MNCFC signed the MoU on behalf of the Government of India while Pixel Space India Pvt Ltd was represented by Shri Abhishek Krishnan, Chief of Staff. It aims to develop various geospatial solutions on a free of cost basis for the Indian agriculture ecosystem using hyperspectral data sets of pixels . The project is aimed at crop value mapping, differentiating between different stages of crops, crop health monitoring and estimation of organic carbon in soil. Focuses on leveraging hyperspectral data samples received from PIXEL’s path-finding satellites to develop analytical models focused on The hyperspectral data provided by the pixels to the government will enable it to develop methods of use. MNCFC on behalf of D&FW will collaborate with the PIXEL team to develop and implement the appropriate methodology.

7 World Bank will help for better technical education in India​

The World Bank has approved a loan of US$ 255.5 million to improve the quality of technical education in government institutions in India . The loan will support around 275 government-run technical institutions in selected states across the country, over the next five years . The USD 255.5 million loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) has a final maturity of 14 years, including a grace period of five years. More than 350,000 students will be benefited every year from the loans given by the World Bank to improve the quality of technical education.
