APSET 2025 or AP State Eligibility Test 2025 notification has been released by the Andhra University on its official website, .

AP SET for recruitment as Assistant Professors or Lecturer in various University / Degree Colleges/ Institutions of Higher Education in Andhra Pradesh.

Good news for assistant professor/ Lecturer post aspirants. SET is mandatory for lectureship in colleges and universities in the state.

Those who have qualified in the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC need not take it. Both government and private institutions consider the SET score while recruiting faculty.

(APSET) for this Year will be conducted by Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, in accordance with G.O.Ms.No.47 Higher Education (CE) Dept dated: 02-12-2015 for recruitment and promotions of Lectures/Assistant Professors in Degree Colleges as per the University Grant Commission Regulations.

The University is inviting the AP SET online applications from eligible candidates to appear for the Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test. No upper age limit for APSET. A candidate can avail any number of chances.

Eligibility Criteria for APSET​


The candidates should have a Masters Degree from a University Grants Commission recognized university with minimum 55 percent marks for General / Backward Class candidates and 50 percent marks for SC / ST / PH / VH.

Candidates who are appearing in the final year of their Post Graduate examination may also appear in this examination.

(i) Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC are eligible for this Test.

The Backward Classes (BC) /Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Transgender/ persons with disability (PwD) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.

(ii) Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course or candidates who have appeared for their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test.

However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of eligibility for Assistant Professor only after they have passed their Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of BC/ SC/ ST/ PwD category candidates).

Such candidates must complete their Masters degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of SET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

(iii) Candidates belonging to the transgender category would be eligible to draw the same relaxation in fee, age and qualifying criteria for SET (i.e. Assistant Professor) as are available to SC/ ST/ PwD categories.

The subject wise cut-offs for this category should be the lowest among those for SC/ ST/ PwD/ BC categories in the corresponding subject.

(iv) The Ph.D.degree holders whose Master’s level examination have been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.

(v) Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their Post Graduation only. The candidates, whose Post Graduation subject is not covered in the list of SET subjects may appear in a related subject.

(vi) Candidates are neither required to send any certificates/documents in support of their eligibility nor printout of their Application Form (Confirmation Page) to APSET office.

However the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the Test. In the event of any ineligibility being detected by the APSET at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for legal action.

(vii) Candidates having post-graduate diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University/ Institute or foreign degree/diploma/certificate awarded by the foreign University/ institute should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/ certificate with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), NewDelhi

(viii) There is no upper age limit for applying for eligibility for test. (ix) The qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the universities/ colleges situated in the Andhra Pradesh state from where they have cleared their SET.

(x) The candidates who have qualified earlier in APSET /UGC NET are not eligible to apply in the same subject they qualified.

APSET Registration Fee​


Eligible Candidates who wish to apply for APSET may submit their application through online mode The Registration fee of Rs 1200- (for General Category), Rs 1000- (for B.C Category) and Rs.700- (for SC/ ST/ PWD Category) may be paid towards the application registration and processing fee through payment gateway (Credit card Debit card/ Net banking).

APSET Exam Pattern​


The Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test will be conducted in objective mode. The AP SET test will consist of 3 papers. All the three papers will consist of multiple-choice questions and will be held on the day of examination in two separate sessions.

AP SET Syllabus​


APSET Question paper for paper -I common for all subjects in which SET is conducted and it will be bi-lingual. Paper-II of certain subjects will also be bi-lingual and details will be provided soon here.

APSET Document Check List​


For certificate verification, the following original certificates are to be produced in person.

  1. S.S.C/ Equivalent certificate in proof of Date of Birth
  2. P.G.Pass certificate (Provisional /Original Degree(OD) Certificate)
  3. Note: Candidates who are studying PG final year are to be produced a Study Certificate from the Head of the Institution
  4. PG Marks Statements of all Semesters
  5. Latest Caste Certificate
  6. Physically Handicapped Certificate (for PWD Candidates).
  7. All PWD Candidates have to attend certificate verification on 12-11- 2025 at 10 A.M.
