A Delhi court has granted 10 days to Congress leader Jagdish Tytler, an accused in the Pul Bangash killings during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, to examine the documents handed over to him by the CBI, including the charge sheet, in the case.
The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vidhi Gupta Anand from Rouse Avenue Court passed the directions on application seeking two weeks time to complete the scrutiny of documents. moved by the counsel for Tytler.
During the proceedings on August 11, Tytler appeared through video conferencing.
The ACMM said that the matter be now put up for scrutiny of documents/ further proceedings on 21.08.2023 at 02:00 P.M.
Recently, on August 4, Special Judge Vikas Dhull of Rouse Avenue Court granted the Congress leader pre-arrest bail on furnishing a bail bond of Rs. 1 lakh and a surety of like amount in a case related to the Pul Bangash killings during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
While granting anticipatory bail, the court also imposed certain conditions on Tytler, including that he will not tamper with the evidence in the case or leave the country without its permission.
The case pertains to the incident of killing of three people and a gurdwara was set ablaze in the Pul Bangash area on November 1, 1984, a day after the then prime minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards.
On July 26, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Vidhi Gupta Anand had issued summons to Jagdish Tytler and directed him to appear before the court on August 5.
