ALIGARH : Prof. B.P. Singh, Department of Physics, Aligarh Muslim University delivered two talks at the one-day workshop on “Reinforcing the Basics: A Workshop on Faculty Growth,” organized by the Department of Physics and Material Science (DPMS), Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), Patiala.
In his first talk, Prof Singh spoke on “Understanding Nuclear Radiation: Myths, Detection, and Modern Advances,” clarifying common misconceptions about nuclear radiation. He provided an overview of radiation detection methods, safety protocols, and the latest advancements in nuclear applications.
Delivering another talk on “Global Energy Disparity and Nuclear Solutions for India’s Future with Cutting-edge Innovations,” he addressed the urgent need to overcome global energy inequality. He highlighted the transformative potential of nuclear energy in India, discussing innovative technologies like accelerator-driven sub-critical reactors (ADSRs), also known as Energy Amplifiers. He explained how these systems leverage particle accelerators to maintain controlled chain reactions, offering a safer and more sustainable nuclear energy solution for the future.
The interactive discussion provided the attendees, including faculty members and researchers from diverse fields, with a platform to explore the applications of nuclear physics in addressing real-world challenges.
