Gangster Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf were remanded to police remand for 7 days in the Umeshpal case. Meanwhile, the UP anti-terror squad killed Atiq’s son Asad in an encounter.

The Supreme Court rejected Centre’s plea to wait for the Commission report on Scheduled Caste status for Dalits who have converted to Islam and Christianity. The Court said the social stigma of casteism can persist even after conversion.

The Supreme Court has agreed to list the petition challenging the Karnataka government’s decision to end 4% OBC reservation for Muslims in the state.
