1 2024 Pulitzer Winner Announced
Columbia University in the United States announced the 2024 Pulitzer Prize winners on 7 May 2024 . Columbia University announced the winners on the recommendation of the Pulitzer Prize Board. The award will be presented by the President of Columbia University at a later ceremony. The Pulitzer Prize is considered the most prestigious award in the field of journalism. The award recognizes work in 15 journalism categories and eight arts categories .

2 Uttarakhand government to launch “Pirul Laao-Paise Pao” campaign to reduce forest fires
Uttarakhand government will launch ‘ Bring Pirul-Paise Pao ‘ campaign to collect Pirul with the aim of reducing forest fires . Pirul leaves are the biggest reason for spreading fire in forests . Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in a meeting organized in Dehradun regarding forest fire and monsoon season. directed the concerned officials to start this campaign. Shri Dhami said that with the cooperation of the Forest Department and local people, the forest fire has been controlled to a great extent and soon the forest fire will be completely extinguished. He said that action will also be taken to create fire lines to prevent forest fires and create public awareness. The Chief Minister stressed on involving public representatives also in this. During this period, disciplinary action has been taken against a total of 17 officers and personnel of the Forest Department who were negligent in preventing forest fire, in which 10 personnel were suspended.
3 Health alert in Kerala after five West Nile cases reported
The Health Department of the Kerala government has confirmed five cases of West Nile fever in three districts of the state . As a precautionary measure, state health minister Veena George has ordered all district health officers to remain alert and take mosquito control measures by increasing pre-monsoon cleanliness drives and surveillance activities. West Nile Fever West Nile Virus occurs in humans infected with . According to the Kerala Health Department, cases of West Nile fever have been reported from Kozhikode, Malappuram and Thrissur districts. Of the five reported cases, four patients have recovered while one patient is still under observation. In Kerala, the first case of West Nile fever was detected in 2011. The first death due to West Nile virus was recorded in 2022 when a 47-year-old man from Thrissur district died of West Nile viral infection.

7 Visa appoints Sujai Raina as country manager for India
Global digital payments platform Visa announced that it has appointed Sujay Raina as the new Country Manager for India . In this role, Raina will be responsible for leading Visa’s strategic initiatives in the Indian market, partnerships with customers and the broader payments ecosystem.
