The dropout rate in Class 10 is 20.6% in 2021-22, with Odisha and Bihar having the highest rates. Odisha's rate is 49.9% and Bihar's rate is 42.1%. The Ministry of Education revealed that approximately 3.5 million students discontinue their education at this stage. The reasons for failure in exams include factors like school attendance, difficulty in following instructions, lack of interest, question paper difficulty, teacher quality, and parental support. Other states with high dropout rates are Meghalaya (33.5%), Karnataka (28.5%), and Assam (28.3%).
