The Faculty of Law, Banaras Hindu University, is delighted to invite law students from all over the nation to participate in the 12th edition of its annual Moot Court Competition- Mahamana Malaviya National Moot Court Competition.

About the Faculty of Law, BHU:​


Established in the year 1924, the Faculty of Law, BHU, stands as a trailblazer in legal education, renowned for its pioneering initiatives. It was among the first in India to offer a full-time, three-year LL.B. program alongside a comprehensive two-year LL.M. curriculum. Notably, it holds the distinction of being the only institution in the country to introduce specialized, full-time two-year LL.M. programs in Human Rights and Duties Education.

The Faculty broke new ground as the first in India to implement clinical legal education and legal aid programs, addressing the pressing needs of underserved communities. Further advancing its community-centric vision, it has developed innovative courses that intersect law with societal challenges. In homage to its visionary founder, the committee annually organizes the prestigious Mahamana Malaviya National Moot Court Competition, inspiring future legal minds to uphold excellence and integrity in their practice.

About the 12th MMNMCC:​


The Faculty of Law is all set to organize the 12th edition of its prestigious annual moot court competition- Mahamana Malaviya National Moot Court Competition. The Competition shall be organized from 28th February to 2nd March 2025. The Competition shall consist of 4 rounds: Preliminary Rounds, Quarter-Final Rounds, Semi-Final Rounds, and the Final Round. All of these rounds shall be on the basis of knock-offs.

The theme of the 12th edition of the Competition is Environmental Law. The moot problem centers on Environmental Law, with significant intersections in Constitutional Law and Human Rights.

Eligibility:​


The Faculty invites participation from bona fide undergraduate students from recognized Colleges/Institutions/Universities currently pursuing Bachelor’s Degrees in Law through recognized courses within the territory of India.

Team Composition:​


  1. The teams shall consist of either 2 or 3 members.


  2. In case of 2 members, both the members shall be designated as Speakers, with no member being designated as a Researcher.


  3. In case of 3 members, two members shall be designated as Speakers and one shall be designated as the Researcher.

Registration:​


There shall be a total of a maximum of 20 teams in the Competition. The registration for the competition will be conducted on a priority basis, determined by the order in which consent letters are received. Teams will be registered strictly in this sequence. However, the Dean of the Law School, Banaras Hindu University, reserves the final discretion in all matters pertaining to registration. Registration will be confirmed for the first 20 teams that submit their duly completed registration forms. Once registration is finalized, no modifications will be allowed. The Moot Court Committee will formally notify the registered teams to confirm their participation.

Interested teams and institutions are encouraged to complete their registration by submitting the Google Form linked below no later than 5:00 PM on December 31, 2025.



Teams are also required to submit hard copies of the registration form provided in the rulebook via registered post, ensuring that they reach the administrator no later than January 10, 2025.

Registration Fee:​


The registration fee for each team is- Rs 3,000.

It can be paid via IMPS or NEFT. Only teams whose registration is confirmed will be required to make the payment. Detailed instructions for fee submission will be communicated directly to the email addresses of the shortlisted teams.

Awards:​


The following five awards will be distributed:


  1. Winners Trophy


  2. Runners-Up Trophy


  3. Best Memorial


  4. Best Researcher


  5. Best Speaker i.e. Male and Female.
