In March 2025, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) launched the iClimateAction project in Geneva, Switzerland, in collaboration with the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) , the Group on Earth Observation (GEO) and the European Commission . The initiative is supported by the Horizon Europe Work Programme 2023-2025 , which aims to address critical gaps in Earth observation and enhance global climate resilience. It coincides with WMO’s 75th anniversary on March 23, 2025 , highlighting the organization’s commitment to science-driven innovation and global collaboration.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become the first Indian to be awarded Mauritius ‘ highest civilian honour , the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean . Mauritius Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam announced the award to Prime Minister Modi during an event of Indian expatriates in Port Louis. This is the 21st such honour to be given to Mr Modi.

3 Agreement between the Center and Delhi Government to promote cruise tourism on Yamuna River​

In the coming days, the people of Delhi will be seen enjoying the ferry service on the Yamuna river of Delhi . The Delhi government has signed an important agreement with the Center for the ferry service. According to the official statement, the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with several agencies of the Delhi government including the Department of Irrigation and Flood Control , Delhi Development Authority , Delhi Jal Board , Delhi Transport Corporation . The objective of this agreement is to develop and promote cruise tourism on the four-kilometer waterway of the Yamuna River (National Waterway 110) between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur . Let us tell you, the aim of this initiative is to turn the Sonia Vihar-Jagatpur section of Yamuna in Delhi into a hub of eco-friendly cruise operations. To ensure sustainable and pollution-free water transport, electric-solar hybrid boats – each of which is capable of carrying 20-30 passengers. It will be deployed as river cruise ships. It is worth noting that these boats will have the facility of bio-toilets, public announcement system and life jackets for the safety of passengers.

4 India signs MoU with Armenia for cooperation in the field of medical product regulation​

India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Armenia for cooperation in the field of medical product regulation . The signing was done in New Delhi in the presence of External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan . The two ministers agreed to cooperate in digital technology and pharmaceuticals . The two leaders also reviewed the potential expansion of India-Armenia bilateral cooperation, including in the areas of political consultation, trade, connectivity, education, culture and public relations. The two countries also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Sushma Swaraj Foreign Service Institute and the Diplomatic School of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

5 India participated in the 69th session of UNCSW in New York and highlighted India’s progress on gender equality​

Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi has reaffirmed India’s unwavering commitment to the empowerment, protection and holistic development of women and children . Addressing the 69th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York, she highlighted India’s progress on gender equality in 12 key areas. The session saw massive participation from all UN Member States, inter-governmental organisations, private sector, philanthropists, academia, civil society, women’s groups and UN agencies.

6 Holi: The famous Holi of pyre ashes was played at Manikarnika Ghat in Varanasi​

Like every year, this time too, Holi of pyre ashes was organized with great pomp on the day of Rangbhari Ekadashi at Manikarnika Ghat, the great cremation ground of Kashi . Thousands of Kashi residents participated in this traditional and unique Holi festival. This tradition of playing Holi with the ashes of pyre on the ghat is hundreds of years old, which has become a part of the religious and cultural heritage of Kashi.

7 Central government banned two Jammu and Kashmir organizations for 5 years under UAPA​

The central government has imposed a five-year ban on the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq -led Awami Action Committee – AAC and Masroor Abbas Ansari -led Jammu and Kashmir Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen – JKIM under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act – UAPA . The Home Ministry has taken this action in two separate notifications, citing these organizations’ involvement in activities that threaten the sovereignty, integrity and security of India. According to the notification, members of the Awami Action Committee are accused of supporting terrorist activities, propagating anti-India information and raising funds for separatist movements in Jammu and Kashmir.

8 Honda Motor Co., Ltd. appoints Takashi Nakajima as the new President and CEO of HCIL​

On March 10, 2025, Tokyo (Japan) -based Honda Motor Co. Ltd appointed Takashi Nakajima as the new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Noida ( Uttar Pradesh )-based Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) with effect from April 1, 2025. He will replace Takuya Tsumura, who has moved to Honda’s headquarters in Japan after completing his tenure in India.

9 World Para-Athletics Grand Prix competition begins at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi​

The World Para-Athletics Grand Prix competition has started at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi . A total of 250 para-athletes from 20 countries are participating in the three-day competition. These include 145 Indians and 105 international players. All of them are participating in 90 sports competitions. India is hosting such a big para-athletic competition for the first time. The Indian team is led by Paris Paralympics 2024 gold medalists Praveen Kumar, Navdeep Singh and Dharambir.

10 Commonwealth Games Federation changed its name, now it will be known as ‘Commonwealth Sport’​

The Commonwealth Games Federation or CGF on Monday announced a change in its name to ‘ Commonwealth Sport ‘. This change is being considered an important step towards transforming the organization from a sports federation to a sports movement. The announcement was made on the occasion of Commonwealth Day (March 10) . The press release issued by the federation said, “From Commonwealth Day 2025, the Commonwealth Games Federation will be known as ‘Commonwealth Sport’. This new name reflects the organization’s journey from a sports federation to a sports movement.” However, legally the name of the organization will remain ‘Commonwealth Games Federation’ . Meanwhile, King Charles, the patron of Commonwealth Sport , officially launched the ‘ Commonwealth Sport King’s Baton Relay ‘ for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games at Buckingham Palace on Monday .

11 Sports Ministry lifts suspension on WFI, wrestling trials to be held in New Delhi on March 15​

After the Union Sports Ministry lifted the suspension of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) , the national wrestling body’s chief Sanjay Singh expressed happiness over the decision. “Very good news for wrestling lovers. We will conduct wrestling trials on March 15 in ,” he said. The ministry today on Tuesday lifted its suspension on WFI, allowing the organisation to conduct domestic tournaments and select national teams for international tournaments. In view of the findings of the Spot Verification Committee, the compliance measures taken by WFI and in the larger interest of Indian sports and athletes, the suspension of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports vide Order of Even Number dated 15th March 2014 is revoked.

12 The incidence of colorectal cancer is increasing in men and women​

The month of March is observed as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. This disease is on the rise in men and women. Colorectal cancer is a type of cancer that begins in the colon or rectum . According to the World Health Organization, colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer worldwide , accounting for about 10% of all cancer cases , and it is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally. According to research published in Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, compared to people born between 1950 and 1954, people born between 1980 and 1984 are almost twice as likely to have colorectal cancer, and those born between 1990 and 1994 are three times as likely. Common symptoms include diarrhea, constipation, blood in stool, abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, and low iron levels.
