NExT Exam Update:
The NExT stands for National Exit Test, and it will be conducted by the National Medical Commission (NMC) in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.

The NExT exam is a proposed test that will replace NEET PG and FMGE, acting as a common exam for medical licensure and PG admissions in India.

In the recent update for the NExT exam, NMC has decided not to conduct the NExT 2025. As per the media, FAIMA’s Chairperson, Dr Abhijat Sheth, has announced the postponement of the examination.

Why NMC Put NExT Exam on Hold?

The NExT exam was first planned for the 2019 MBBS batch, who were supposed to take it in 2023. But the plan was delayed as the National Medical Commission (NMC) said more time was needed for preparation.

Now, the NMC has officially confirmed that the exam won’t be implemented anytime soon. Instead, mock tests will be held over the next three to four years to test the system’s readiness and gather feedback from students and institutions.

This means the full launch of NExT is still a few years away. Until then, medical graduates will continue to appear for their regular final-year MBBS exams and NEET PG for postgraduate admissions, just as before.

The key reasons behind the delay in NExT examination are infrastructure, stakeholder concerns, and Legal and regulatory challenges.

All the candidates are advised to keep checking the NMC website to know about any changes and updates regarding the NExT exam.
