Meet Saumya Sharma who secured AIR 9 rank in UPSC 2017 examination. Saumya is a native of Delhi and her parents are medical practitioners. When Saumya was 16, she started losing her hearing power. Samuya’s parents did everything possible so she could return to normal, but it all went in vain. It was a huge setback for her but she didn’t lose hope.
Saumya joined the prestigious National Law School in the national capital after completing her senior secondary. Saumya drew media attention when she approached the Delhi High Court seeking reservation for hearing-impaired students.
Her dedication and hard work helped her crack the exam. She qualified the exam in the general category as she did not opt for a differently-abled category.
Saumya Sharma says she dedicated a fixed time of six hours regularly for her preparations of UPSC examinations. Knowledge of Current affairs was key and Sayuma kept herself updated every day with happenings in the country and around the world. She took only four months for preparation and cracked the prestigious exam in her first attempt at the age of 23.
She said the UPSC aspirants should not take CSAT papers casually and should give their best as it is qualifying papers.
At Present, Saumya Sharma is working as CEO of Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL). She got married to IPS Archit Chandak.
