Aligarh : A Counselling Session was recently organized at AMU City Girls’ High School in collaboration with the Students’ Counselling Centre, AMU. The session aimed to provide a supportive platform for students to address their concerns related to mental health and career guidance. The event was led by Prof. Roomana N. Siddiqui, Coordinator of the Students’ Counselling Centre, accompanied by her team, which included Dr. Sarah Javed, Dr. Asif Hasan, Dr. Heena Parveen, and Dr. Eisha Rehman.

The session was attended by 90 students from Grade X and focused on enhancing mental well-being and guiding students towards diverse career paths. Prof. Siddiqui introduced the session by discussing the significance of mental health and the importance of open communication with family and friends. She also highlighted stress-free exam preparation and urged students to consider careers beyond traditional fields like NEET and IIT.

Dr. Eisha Rahman facilitated a group discussion on stress and anxiety, emphasizing mindfulness and leading students through grounding exercises. Dr. Sarah Javed provided strategies to improve concentration and cognitive skills for academic success. Dr. Asif Hasan engaged students with interactive exercises, while Dr. Heena Parveen shared effective coping techniques, including deep breathing and relaxation exercises.

The Officiating Principal, Mr. Md. Javed Akhtar, delivered closing remarks, encouraging students to prioritize mental well-being for overall career growth. The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Samia Hamid, while Ms. Pakeeza Khan served as the overall coordinator of the event.
