Mumbai : Bisleri International, Dalmia Polypro, and PRS India joined forces for a significant cleanup initiative at Juhu Beach, Mumbai, showcasing their commitment to sustainability. Collaborating with local organization Rerout, the cleanup drive mobilized 88 participants who collected an impressive 576 kilograms of mixed waste within minutes.

The waste, which ranged from plastic wrappers and bottle caps to glass and fabric, was carefully segregated. Findings revealed that 39% of the waste was plastic, while 23% consisted of glass, paper, and cloth, with the remainder classified as non-recyclable. Participants also engaged beachgoers, spreading awareness about proper waste management and the importance of preserving natural habitats.

This initiative comes ahead of the Plastics Recycling Show India 2024, set to take place from December 4-6 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, NESCO, Mumbai. Featuring over 100 exhibitors, the tradeshow aims to unite stakeholders across the plastics recycling value chain to foster innovation, collaboration, and scalable solutions for advancing sustainability and a circular economy.

Mr. Taher Patrawala, Managing Director, Media Fusion & Co-organiser of PRS India, said
“Tackling the ground realities of waste management is essential in addressing the broader challenges of plastics recycling. Initiatives like the Juhu Beach clean-up provide a firsthand understanding of the crucial role played by waste pickers and the complexities of segregation and recycling. Collaborating with Dalmia Polypro and Bisleri International allows us to align efforts and amplify impact. The Plastics Recycling Show India serves as a dedicated platform to bring together the entire value chain from waste collectors to brand owners driving innovation, collaboration, and scalable solutions to accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices and promote a circular economy in plastics.”
