University of Birmingham’s Professor Zhibing Zhang Elected as Fellow of European Academy of Sciences

Professor Zhibing Zhang has been elected as a Fellow of the (EurASc).

A distinguished chemical engineer whose main research focus is chemical product/formulation engineering and particle technology, Professor Zhang is also Co-Director of the University of Birningham’s China Institute.

Professor Zhang has built an international reputation for his work on micromanipulation of single micro-particles and encapsulation/bioencapsulation with applications in agrochemical, food, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, household care and human/oral care industries.

It is a great honour to be elected as a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences, joining the most distinguished scholars and engineers working at the forefront of research and development of advanced technologies.

Professor Zhang is a member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Microencapsulation, member of the International Advisory Board of Particuology andAssociate Editor of a new journal Health Engineering, EPSRC Peer Review College and Engineering Panel.

Professor Zhang has authored and co-authored >210 journal/referred papers and >270 other publications including 12 patents.

As Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng), Professor Zhang has served on committees including the Royal Academy of Engineering’s International Committee, the International Partnership Programmes Steering Group, and the UK-China Engineering Technology Cooperation Steering Committee.

As Vice President of The World Bioprotection Forum, he actively contributes to environmental protection by advocating for biopesticides as alternatives to chemical pesticides, promoting collaboration between academia and industry.
