This has reference to the Ministry of Jal Shakti Letter dated 03.09.2024. As you are aware, a fortnight of Swachhata Hi Seva' (SHS) has been observed since 2017 to strengthen voluntarism and collective action. This year, we also commemorate the 10th anniversary of the launch ofthe Swachh Bharat Mission. To honour this milestone, SHS 2024 campaign will be observed from 17th September to 1st October with the theme of Swabhav Swachhata - Sanskaar Swachhata' and thereafter Swachh Bharat Diwas (SBD) will be celebrated on the 2nd of October 2024. All our Higher Education Institutions and Autonomous Bodies are actively participating across the three main pillars of SHS 2024:
In the above context, you must be observing many activities, but most importantly, this is to draw your attention towards Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs that need to be organised, comprising the below: 1. Suraksha Kits Distribution: Suraksha Kits, including a shirt, cap, hand towel, shoes, gloves, masks, and sweets distribution. 2. Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir: SafaiMitra Suraksha Shivir to be conducted in collaboration with Surkhiya, an NGO. Key highlights of the Shivir: a. A physician and gynaecologist have been engaged to deliver talk on overall wellbeing and fitness especially in the context of occupational hazards faced by Safai Mitras and awareness regarding best practices in menstrual hygiene. b. Health screening and counselling sessions to be carried out for all Safai Mitra over three days. c. Baseline survey of sanitation workers to be carried out to raise awareness about entitlements under various government schemes and facilitate documentation to avail such entitlements.
