	IIT Kanpur to Host the 57th Inter IIT Students Sports Meet and 29th Inter IIT Staff Sports Meet​
		Kanpur, India, December 2024: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur is set to host the 57th Inter IIT Students Sports Meet and the 29th Inter IIT Staff Sports Meet, bringing together over 3,500 participants from 23 IITs across India. This prestigious annual event, scheduled from December 9-24, 2024, celebrates athletic excellence, competitive spirit, and the camaraderie that defines the IIT community. The Students Sports Meet will be held from December 9 to December 17, with the opening ceremony scheduled for December 10. Participants will compete in basketball, tennis, cricket, hockey, table tennis, and volleyball, showcasing their dedication and sporting prowess. The Staff Sports Meet will follow from December 19 to December 24, featuring events such as basketball, tennis, cricket, football, table tennis, volleyball, athletics, squash, badminton, and chess. This year, the chess event will include participation from Differently-Abled Persons (DAP), highlighting the event’s commitment to inclusivity and representation. Since its inception in 1961, the Inter IIT Sports Meet has been a cornerstone of the IIT tradition, fostering a culture of healthy competition and unity.
