Prof Tarun Gupta

Professor Tarun Gupta, Dean of Research and Development ​ Prof. Tarun Gupta is a Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering and holds Pawan Tewari Goldman Sachs Sustainability Faculty Chair. He received his MTech from IIT Bombay in 2000 and ScD (Doctor of Science) from Harvard University School of Public Health, USA in 2004. He joined IIT Kanpur in 2006 as a faculty member. Prof. Gupta is an accomplished academician and researcher known for his contributions to the field of environmental science. His research interests include the development of instruments for aerosol measurement, formation of secondary Organic Aerosol (SOA), personal exposure assessment, source apportionment of air pollution, formation & control of engine exhaust emissions, and human risk assessment. Prof. Gupta has been involved in translational research. Three of his homegrown technologies have been transferred to the industry. Prof.Gupta has been honored with several recognitions namely INAE Innovator and Entrepreneur Award, VNMM Award, NASI Scopus Young Scientist, INSA Medal for Young Scientist, INAE Young Engineer Award and IEI Young Engineers Award.
