1 Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the ‘ Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit ‘ at the Exhibition and Convention Center (JECC) in Jaipur, Rajasthan . This summit will run for 3 days and representatives from 32 countries are participating in it. On the second day of the program, there will be a Pravasi Rajasthani Conclave, while on the last day, the MSME Conclave will be hosted. Apart from this, Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated the Rajasthan Global Business Expo . Even before the summit, the Rajasthan government has signed an MOU of Rs 35 lakh crore with various companies . Representatives from 32 countries are participating in this summit, out of which 17 are partner countries. These include Denmark, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Switzerland, Malaysia, Spain, Cuba, Venezuela, Morocco, Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Nepal, Oman, Poland and Thailand. Other countries participating in the investment summit include the US, UK, Germany, Australia, Indonesia, Egypt, Finland, Russia, Seychelles, Chad, Ecuador, Ghana, Iraq, Madagascar, Paraguay and Zimbabwe. A major highlight of the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit is the Rajasthan Global Business Expo, which will feature Rajasthan Pavilion, Country Pavilion, Startup Pavilion and exhibitions by leading Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) and companies.
2 PM Modi inaugurated the Bima Sakhi scheme
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the ‘ Bima Sakhi Yojana ‘ of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) in Panipat , Haryana . This scheme has been specially designed keeping in mind the rural women so that they can be empowered economically. Under this scheme, women will get an opportunity to work as insurance agents with Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). Women applying for Bima Sakhi Yojana should be between 18 and 70 years of age and they should be at least 10th pass . However, relatives of LIC agents or employees, such as spouse, children, parents, siblings or in-laws cannot apply for this scheme. Apart from this, former employees or former agents of LIC will also not be eligible for this scheme. Under the scheme, women will be given a monthly stipend for three years. In the first year, a stipend of Rs 7,000 per month will be given. A stipend of Rs 6,000 per month will be given in the second year, but the condition for this is that at least 65% of the policies completed in the first year remain active till the end of every month of the second year. A stipend of Rs 5,000 per month will be given in the third year, but for this it is necessary that at least 65% of the policies completed in the second year remain active till the end of every month of the third year. That is, to get the stipend every year, it will be mandatory for women to keep their policies active. The PM also laid the foundation stone for the construction of Maharana Pratap Udyan Vishwavidyalaya campus in Karnal through virtual medium from Panipat.
3 1990 batch IAS officer Sanjay Malhotra will be the next governor of the Reserve Bank of India
Sanjay Malhotra will be the next Governor of the Reserve Bank of India . The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his name. He has been appointed to the post for a period of three years with effect from 11th of this month. Mr Malhotra, a 1990 batch Rajasthan cadre IAS officer, is currently serving as Revenue Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. He will replace Shaktikanta Das. In a career spanning over 33 years, he has served with distinction in various sectors including power, finance and taxation, information technology and mining. He has extensive experience in finance and taxation in state and central governments. He is currently playing a key role in tax policy formulation in respect of direct and indirect taxes.
4 Indian Navy’s latest multi-role stealth guided missile frigate INS Tushil inducted in Russia
The latest multi-role stealth guided missile frigate INS Tushil was inducted into the Indian Navy in Russia today in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh . INS Tushil is designed to operate in all four dimensions of naval warfare – air, surface, underwater and electromagnetic . It is equipped with a variety of advanced weapons including the jointly developed BrahMos supersonic cruise missile and advanced range surface-to-air missiles. INS Tushil is an advanced Krivak III class frigate under Project 1135.6 , of which six are already in service – three Talwar class ships , built at Baltiysky Shipyard in St Petersburg and three follow-on Teg class ships, built at Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad . INS Tushil is the seventh ship in the series, the first of two advanced additional follow-on ships, the contract for which was signed in October 2016 between JSC Rosoboronexport, Indian Navy and Government of India.
5 First flight test successfully conducted at Noida International Airport
The first flight test was successfully conducted at Noida International Airport in Jewar , paving the way for the start of full operations of the airport next year. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu was present on the occasion. Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) conducted the first flight verification test for Noida International Airport, ahead of the commercial inauguration of the airport in April 2025. A test aircraft of IndiGo Airlines from Indira Gandhi International Airport in the capital Delhi landed at Jewar International Airport in Noida for technical evaluation. This airport will connect Delhi and Western Uttar Pradesh to other cities in the country and abroad.
6 Promotion of sale of coarse grain based ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook products, PLISMBP scheme of Central Government
Shri Anna i.e. coarse grains are being promoted in the country . In such a situation, the Central Government informed that to promote the use of coarse grains in food products and encourage their value addition , the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Coarse Grain Based Products (PLISMBP) was launched with an outlay of Rs 800 crore for the period from FY 2022-2023 to FY 2026-2027 . The initial limit of investment in this scheme has been removed, making it accessible to more applicants. To qualify for the incentive amount, the companies selected under this scheme will have to achieve year-on-year sales growth of at least 10 percent as compared to the base year. The scheme encourages the sale of branded ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook products in consumer packs containing more than 15 percent coarse grains by weight or volume.
7 Union Minister of State Jitin Prasad launched India Internet Governance Forum
Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada on December 9 launched the fourth edition of the India Internet Governance Forum (IIGF) in New Delhi . The event will run for two days. The theme of IIGF is ” Innovating Internet Governance for India “. IIGF has been launched on the lines of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (UN IGF). It is a global multi-stakeholder platform promoting dialogue on internet-related policies. It was established in 2021. The last 3 editions of IIGF (2021, 2022 and 2023) were held in hybrid mode. The aim of IIGF is to address the challenges and risks associated with the Internet.
8 Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh launched “Amrit Gyan Kosh” portal to strengthen governance training
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh launched the “ Amrit Gyan Kosh ” portal to strengthen governance training . The Minister also inaugurated the “ Advanced Case Writing and Teaching Workshop ” organised under the aegis of Capacity Building Commission in partnership with Stanford Leadership Academy for Development and Asian Development Bank . This workshop is a landmark initiative to strengthen governance training and capacity building for public administrators in India.
9 India Post released a special set of postcards featuring penguins from Antarctica
India Post released a special set of postcards with pictures of penguins from Antarctica . These postcards will be delivered to Mumbai from Indian Branch Post Office and Maitri Post Office by Vandita Kaul, Secretary (Postal), Ministry of Communications, as part of the 44th Antarctica Expedition. Director of National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research-NCPOR joined virtually from Antarctica Maitri Post Office and Bharati Post Office.
10 Bangladesh won their second consecutive Under-19 Asia Cup
Bangladesh has won the Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup title for the second consecutive time . The team defeated India by 59 runs in the final played in Dubai on 8 December . India’s team missed out on winning the Asia Cup trophy for the 9th time. Bangladesh’s Iqbal Hussain Emon and captain Azizul Hakim took 3-3 wickets. Al Fahad got 2 wickets. In batting from the team, Rizan Hussain scored 47 and Shihab James scored 40 runs. Captain Aman scored the most runs for India . He played an innings of 26 runs with 1 four in 65 balls. The Under-19 Asia Cup was established by the Asian Cricket Council in 1989. A total of 11 editions have been held in this tournament so far, out of which India has won 8 tournaments. India has missed reaching the final on only two occasions i.e. in 2017 and 2023. Bangladesh won its first title by defeating the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the final match held in Dubai last year.
11 Devjit Saikia became interim secretary of BCCI
On December 7, BCCI joint secretary Devjit Saikia has been appointed as the interim secretary of the board . He will replace Jay Shah , who took over as ICC chairman on December 1. Saikia is a lawyer and has played domestic cricket for Assam . Saikia has not become the permanent secretary. Elections for this post are yet to be held, however, Saikia can remain in the post till September. Devjit is a resident of Guwahati, Assam, he was born in 1969. In 1984, he got a chance to play in the CK Nayudu Trophy from the Assam team. Till 1989, he was also a part of the Assam Under-19 team.
