No fresh registration of suits against places of worship; SC stays passing of final/ survey orders in existing matters

Supreme Court: A special bench comprising of Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, Sanjay Kumar and KV Viswanathan, JJ. while hearing a batch of petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the , directed that no fresh suits can be registered in the country against places of worship till further orders from this Court, considering that the present matter is sub-judice.

In terms of existing suits, the Court also directed the Trial Courts to not pass any effective orders including final orders or surveys against religious structures.
