National Human Rights Commission (NHRC): While considering the instant complaint highlighting violations of rights in government schools in Sambhal, the NHRC directed District Magistrate, Sambhal and Secretary, Education, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, to look into the allegations made in the complaint submit an Action Taken Report within four weeks for perusal of NHRC.
The complainant had brought forth a news clipping of Indian Express dated 18-07-2024 wherein it was stated that the teachers and students in government schools in Sambhal have to remove shoes in class as per the order of ‘Basic Shiksha Adhikari’. The complainant further alleged that all female teachers had to be addressed as ‘Didi’ or ‘Behanji’, as per the orders of Basic Shiksha Adhikari.
The complainant further stated that the government schools were also running without basic facilities and furniture etc. Therefore, intervention of NHRC was sought into this matter.
Upon perusing the complaint, the NHRC directed DM, Sambhal and Secretary, Education, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh to present an Action Taken Report concerning the issue.
