National Green Tribunal: In an original application against unauthorised and illegal construction of houses, shops and other commercial and residential complexes in Greater Noida and Noida in violation of the environmental norms, Justice Prakash Shrivastava (Chairperson), Justice Sudhir Agarwal (Judicial Member) and Dr. A. Senthil Vel (Expert Member) considering that large scale illegal construction without following environmental norms was in progress, therefore, till the next date of hearing, authorities of the State and Pollution Control Board was directed to ensure that projects requiring EC/CTE/CTO but not obtaining these clearances are not permitted to proceed with the construction illegally till it complies with all the requisite environmental norms and clearances.
The Tribunal also directed PCB to prevent illegal plotting in the area falling in floodplain zones in the villages.
The applicant also alleged illegal extraction of top-soil and drawl of groundwater by the project proponents without obtaining No Objection Certificate (NOC). The Tribunal on perusal of the replies filed by the authorities concerned noted that some of the project proponents are continuing with the construction without obtaining Consent to Establish (CTE)/Consent to Operate (CTO)/Environmental Clearance (EC).
The matter has been further listed for hearing on 27-03-2025.
