New Delhi: The aspirants of the National Entrance cum Eligibility Test – Master of Dental Surgery Examination this year (NEET-MDS 2024), have been quite troubled as the government has not yet made a decision regarding the NEET MDS 2024 Postponement. As per the current schedule, the NEET MDS 2024 Exam Date is March 18, 2024 but the aspirants are requesting the ministry to postpone the examination to July, just like the NEET PG 2024 Postponement. As the decision regarding the exam date is ‘under consideration’, the All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) has written a letter to the Ministry calling for the exam postponement. Here’s what the letter says..

AIMSA Writes Letter To Ministry For NEET MDS 2024 Postponement

As mentioned earlier, a letter, to be more specific, an ‘urgent appeal’ has been sent to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, by the All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA). In a post on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter), AIMSA has said, “Urgent Appeal regarding NEET-MDS 2024 Exam! @official_aimsa requests @mansukhmandviya ji @OfficeOf_MM @ianilradadiya ji to consider the request of NEET MDS 2024 aspirants and postpone the exam with extending the cutoff date for eligibility to benefit maximum aspirants! #NEETMDS2024 #Medtwitter.” The association has also tagged the PMO and news agency ANI in this post.

‘We Implore You To Consider Rescheduling Exam…’

Addressed to Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, the Minister of Health and Family Welfare, the ‘urgent appeal’ can be quoted as saying, “We write to urgently address the NEET-MDS 2024 Exam Eligibility Issue affecting approximately 7000-8000 BDS interns. The current criteria, set with a cutoff date of March 31st, unfairly disqualify many interns who faced pandemic-related training breaks, extending their completion dates. This situation threatens their career prospects and undermines fairness in the selection process.”

Highlighting the lack of proper preparation time and uncertainty due to the confusion regarding the exam date, the appeal further says, “With only 15 days left until the exam and uncertainty looming, interns lack adequate preparation time. We implore you to consider rescheduling the exam to allow for a reasonable extension, enabling all eligible candidates to compete fairly. Furthermore, we urge for an extension of the internship cutoff date for eligibility, benefitting the affected interns.”

NEET MDS 2024 Process To Align With NEET PG 2024?

In their letter, the Students Association has also requested that the NEET MDS 2024 Counseling and Admission Process must be aligned with the processes of NEET PG 2024. To quote the letter, “Additionally, aligning the counseling and admission processes with NEET PG would ensure uniformity and fairness across other MBBS and BDS aspirants. Your prompt attention to this matter is urgently needed to alleviate the distress faced by these aspiring professionals.”
