School Closing News Latest Updates: In view of heatwave conditions, the Maharashtra government on Thursday announced early summer vacation for primary, middle, and higher secondary schools of the State Board from April 21, 2023. Schools of other boards can take decision about closure after considering their curriculum and activities, said the order issued by the School Education Department. Except for Vidarbha, schools in the state will reopen on June 15. Those in Vidarbha will restart from June 30, the order added.

In several parts of the Country, the temperature has already surpassed 40 degrees Celsius.

Jharkhand reels under intense heat; school timings changed​


With Jharkhand experiencing intense heat, the state government has announced a change in school timings from April 19-25, 2023. Students from kindergarten to class 5 will attend schools from 7 am to 11 am, while senior pupils will continue classes till noon, an order issued by the education department stated. “Prayer meetings or sports will not be conducted under the sun during this period, but mid-day meals will continue,” the order stated, news agency PTI reported.

Schools in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills to remain shut from April 19-21 due to heat​


Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills district administration has ordered that schools be closed for three days from Wednesday(April 19) due to soaring temperatures. The order came in the wake of the mercury levels soaring above 37 degrees Celsius in the district, and even touching 40 degrees Celsius in the plains. “In view of the massive surge in temperatures and to ensure the well-being of the students, teachers and staffers, I have declared that all primary, upper primary, secondary and higher secondary schools in the district be shut from April 19-21,” Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Chelani told PTI. As per the East Khasi Hills district administration, all educational institutions located around the Dangar area under Mawsynram block will remain closed from tomorrow for a week, due to the heatwave conditions.

Tripura shuts govt schools till April 23 amid heatwave​


Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that all government schools in the state will remain shut from April 18 to 23 due to the prevailing heatwave conditions. The scorching heat may adversely impact the health of the students, he said in a Facebook post, announcing the closure of all state-run and state-aided schools. He also requested the private schools in the state to do the same in view of the prevailing harsh weather condition.

Odisha reels under intense heat, schools to remain shut on Apr 19, 20​


Due to the rising temperature, the Odisha government has given district collectors permission to call for revisions in the timings of school. The intense heat has prompted the government to shut all schools and anganwadi centres on April 19 and 20, an order stated. Morning classes were being held in the schools from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Odisha announces early summer vacations in schools amid heat​


Summer vacations in all schools in Odisha will start on Friday, the state government announced, bringing forward the holidays in view of the scorching heat. All schools — government, private and aided — will be closed for summer vacation from April 21, the Information and Public Relations Department said on Thursday. The date of reopening of the schools will be decided soon, it said.

West Bengal Closes Schools Till April 22


West Bengal has closed schools, colleges, and universities from April 17 to April 22. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee issued a notification in this regard. Meanwhile, the summer vacation will commence on May 2 in West Bengal government and aided schools.

Noida School Timing Revised​


The District Magistrate of Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar changed the school timing in Noida. The schedules for both government and private schools have been altered.
