Kanpur, 30 July, 2024: To commemorate Kargil Diwas, also known as Kargil Vijay Diwas, IIT Kanpur hosted a special event under the aegis of the 2 UP CTR NCC Battalion. The celebration, held at the Kargil Height, IIT Kanpur, marks the 25th anniversary of India's victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War. On this solemn occasion, Colonel Shishir Srivastava, along with his unit, paid tribute to the brave hearts who laid down their lives during the conflict. The Kargil War, which took place in 1999, saw Indian forces successfully reclaiming their positions from Pakistani intruders in the mountainous region of Northern Kargil District in Ladakh. The program concluded with Col. Srivastava encouraging young cadets to imbibe the spirit of patriotism and dedication displayed by the soldiers during the Kargil War.
