Dadasaheb Phalke Award Winners
Dada Saheb Phalke Award Winners: The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India’s highest commendation award given in the field of cinema. This award is presented annually at the National Film Awards by the organisation set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting which is the Directorate of Film. The beneficiary of this award is selected by the committee comprising eminent personalities from the Indian film industry. Dada saheb Phalke is honoured for the “Outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema”.
About Dadasaheb Phalke Award
Dada Saheb Phalke is recognised as the “father of Indian cinema”, the award, Dada Saheb Phalke Award is given to commemorate the contribution of this Indian filmmaker. Dada saheb Phalke was the first Indian filmmaker who directed India’s First Fill-length feature film, namely, Raja Harishchandra in the year 1913. The Dada Saheb Phalke Award Winners are given a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) medallion, a shawl, and a cash prize of ₹10 lakh. Some prominent personalities such as Asha Parekh, Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Asha Bhonsle, Lata Mangeshkar, Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar and many more are awarded this prestigious honour.
Dadasaheb Phalke Award Winners List (1969 -2022)
Devaki rani was the first awardee of this prestigious honour at the 17th National Films Awards. As of 2022, there are 52 winners on the list. Veteran actor Asha Parekh is the 52nd recipient of the Dada Saheb Phalke award, she was awarded for the year 2020 in the year 2022 due to the Covid Pandemic for her majestic journey in the film industry. She was presented with the award by President Droupadi Murmu during the 68th National Film Awards ceremony.
