Chanakya National Law University’s Executive Council met on 17.12.2024 and was attended by Former Education Minister and present Advocate General, Sri P. K. Sahi; Secretary, Education Department, Govt. of Bihar, Sri Baidya Nath Yadav, IAS; Law Secretary, Sri Anjani Kumar Singh; Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Vice- Chancellor, Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur, Prof. (Dr.) Ali Mehdi, Former Dean, Faculty of Law, Banaras Hindu University and Sri Ramakant Sharma, Senior Advocate and Chairman Bihar State Bar Council.
The council approved the menstrual leave policy which would benefit female students. In a historic decision and particularly taking note of difficulties faced by the students, the council approved the proposal of allowing students to complete the course at their own pace. Students can also fast track completion of courses by opting more than the required courses per year. Prof. Faizan Mustafa, Vice-Chancellor expressed his happiness on the council’s decision to cater need of multiple intelligences. He said that he wants his students to enjoy their university life and not to be under any academic stress. He said that so many young students end their lives due to heavily loaded curriculum and the academic stress. The council also approved the proposal of offering programs in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics. Several training programs in forensics would soon be offered to help the police personnel. In other major decisions, the council approved the new LL.M. Regulations that would have more than 50% research component. The University would prefer candidates with foreign degrees from reputed universities in its recruitment of faculties. The Education Secretary promised all help from the government in the transformation of university into an island of academic excellence. The council expressed its satisfaction on the improvement in infrastructure of the university and welcomed changes lately introduced in its teaching learning programmes.
