About NLSBLR
The NLSBLR is a student-run journal at the (NLSIU), Bengaluru, India’s premier law school. Our goal is to recognise and foster cutting-edge academic scholarship on commercial law. Over the years, since the publication of our first volume in 2015, we have featured scholarship by a diverse range of leading academics, advocates, judges, scholars, and other luminaries, such as Justice V. Ramasubramanian (Judge, Supreme Court of India), Mr. Philip R. Wood CBE, KC (Yorke Distinguished Fellow, University of Cambridge), Prof. (Dr.) Regis Bismuth (Professor, SciencesPo Law School), Mr. Matthew Hodgson (Partner, Allen & Overy LLP), Mr. Rajat Sethi (Founder & Managing Partner, S&R Associates), and Prof. (Dr.) James J. Nedumpara (Professor, Jindal Global Law School).
Mandate:
The NLS Business Law Review (NLSBLR) intends to recognise and foster academic research and scholarship in commercial law by examining the myriad regulatory frameworks, domestic or international, that impact doing business in India or globally. We particularly welcome submissions applying comparative international perspectives. The mandate of the NLSBR includes, amongst other things, company law, securities and capital markets regulation, banking and finance, taxation, foreign investment, competition law, commercial dispute resolution, contract and commercial law, and employment law.
The blog carries short and contemporaneous pieces on recent developments in commercial law. It has featured scholarships from Dr. Geeta Gouri (Former Member, Competition Commission of India), Aarthi Shivanand (Partner, J Sagar & Associates), Animesh Bordoloi (Associate Professor, O.P. Jindal Global University), Dr. Sudhanshu Kumar (Assistant Professor, NALSAR University of Law), and Sahana Ramesh (Assistant Professor, NLSIU).
Blog pieces may fall under the following (non-exhaustive) categories:
1. Responses to articles in the print Journal or previous articles published on the NLSBLR Blog.
2. Comments on contemporary legal developments or comments on recent case law.
3. Articles on legal issues which relate to the ease of doing business in India and in the Global South.
4. Book reviews engaging with recent literary works.
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list and we would be happy to publish other pieces as long as they fall within our mandate specified above. We recommend that potential authors choose a topic that is contemporarily relevant. We especially encourage undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students to consider writing for the Blog. We also welcome purely theoretical/philosophical/jurisprudential pieces.
Submission Guidelines:
Articles for the blog must be between 1,500-3,000 words and the relevant references must be hyperlinked. Footnote references (if absolutely necessary) must conform to the .
Submitted manuscripts must not contain any biographical information regarding the authors, such as names, institutional affiliations, acknowledgements, etc. This information can be added at a later stage if the manuscript is accepted for publication. Finally, submissions made to the Blog must be on an exclusive basis and not be under concurrent consideration by any other academic or non-academic publication.
We request all potential authors to go through our thoroughly before submitting their manuscripts.
To make your submission for the NLSBLR Blog, you may with your manuscript. NLS students are requested to mail their manuscripts to nlsblr@nls.ac.in. We attempt to review and process articles within 4-6 weeks of submission. Please follow up with us, if you have not heard from us within 6 weeks.
