1 BJP alliance’s big victory in Maharashtra, return of JMM leadership in Jharkhand
The results of the assembly elections held in Maharashtra and Jharkhand have come. The ruling parties have won in both the states. In Jharkhand, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) led Indi Alliance has got a majority. Whereas, in Maharashtra , the BJP led Mahayuti alliance has won a big victory. According to the data given by the Election Commission, out of 81 seats in Jharkhand, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has won 34 , Bharatiya Janata Party 21 , Congress 16 , RJD 4, CBI ML (L) 2, AJSU Party 1 seat, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) 1 seat, Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha 1 seat and JDU has also won 1 seat. On the other hand, out of 288 seats in Maharashtra , Bharatiya Janata Party has emerged as the largest party. BJP has won 132 seats while its ally Shiv Sena Shinde Group has won 57 and NCP 41 seats. On the other hand, if we talk about Mahavikas Aghadi group, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) managed to win 20 seats, Congress 16 seats and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) 10 seats. In the by-elections held on Wayanad and Nanded seats of Lok Sabha , Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (Congress) has won the Wayanad seat of Kerala by a margin of more than four lakh and Dr. Santukrao Marotrao Hambarde (BJP) has won the Nanded seat of Maharashtra.
2 PM Modi received ‘World Peace Award’ in America
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the World Peace Award in America in his absence on 22 November . He has been awarded the ‘ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. World Peace Award ‘ by Washington Adventist University and an organization Association of Indian American Minorities (AIAM) . Prime Minister Modi has been awarded this award for his efforts for peace in the society and protection of the interests of minorities. . Association of Indian American Minorities (AIAM), a non-governmental organization. It was launched on Friday at Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church in Maryland. The initiative aims to unite minority communities within the Indian American diaspora and work for their welfare. Jasdeep Singh has been appointed the founder and chairman of AIAM.
3 General Upendra Dwivedi was awarded the honorary general rank of Nepal Army
Indian Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi was conferred the honorary rank of General of the Nepal Army on 21 November 2024. India and Nepal have a long tradition of conferring this rank on each other’s Army Chief. General Upendra Dwivedi is on an official visit to Nepal from 20 to 24 November 2024 at the invitation of his Nepalese counterpart General Ashok Raj Sigdel . General Upendra Dwivedi was conferred the rank of Honorary General of the Nepal Army by President of Nepal Ram Chandra Paudel at a special ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Kathmandu on 21 November 2024. The Nepalese President is the Commander-in-Chief of the Nepalese Armed Forces.
4 9th International Gita Festival will be celebrated in Kurukshetra
‘ International Gita Mahotsav ‘ will be organized in Kurukshetra , Haryana from 28 November to 15 December 2024. This festival is being celebrated since the year 2016. Kurukshetra is the birthplace of ‘ Srimad Bhagavad Gita ‘. The main programs of this International Gita Mahotsav, which will run for 18 days, will run from 5 December to 11 December , which will start on 5 December with Gita Yagna and worship in Purushottampura Bagh of Brahmasarovar. This time, from the point of view of Indian Sanatan tradition, the Chief Service Officers of the country’s major temples, monasteries, four Dhams, 12 Jyotirlingas, Shaktipeeths and religious places of mythological importance will gather on the same platform. All of them will participate in the Saint Conference on 9 December. Along with this, they will also participate in the discussion meeting organized on 10 December. This time the United Republic of Tanzania will be the partner country and Odisha will be the partner state in the International Gita Mahotsav. Tanzania was also a participating country in the International Surajkund Crafts Fair organized in February this year. Delegations from Odisha and Tanzania will also come to participate in the International Gita Mahotsav. The sermon given by Lord Krishna to Arjun just before the start of the Mahabharata war is known as Shrimad Bhagwat Gita. It is a part of the Bhishma Parva of the Mahabharata. The Gita is in Sanskrit language and was composed by Rishi Ved Vyas in the third millennium BC. It has 18 chapters and 700 verses. According to Indian tradition, the Gita has the same status as the Upanishads and Dharmasutras.
5 Emami’s Harsh Vardhan Aggarwal takes over as FICCI President
Harsh Vardhan Agarwal, Managing Director and Vice Chairman of Emami Group has assumed charge as the President of business lobby group, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for the term 2024-25 on 21 November 2024. Harsh Vardhan Agarwal replaced Anish Shah.
Senior Vice President of FICCI – Anant Goenka , who is the Vice Chairman of RPG Group which has business interests in tyres, infrastructure, pharma, information technology (IT) and specialty sectors.
Vice President of FICCI – Vijay Shankar , who is the Chairman of Chennai-based Sanmar Group. Sanmar Group has businesses in key industry sectors – Chemicals (including specialty chemicals), Engineering Technology (products and steel castings) and Shipping.
6 Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement between India and European Free Trade Association countries will attract investment of $100 billion
The Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA ) signed between India and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries in March this year will attract an investment of $100 billion . This agreement will boost Indian exports by 99.6 per cent and provide access to the markets of the EFTA countries. TEPA is a modern and ambitious trade agreement, through which Indian products will get access to the markets of the EFTA countries as well as a duty reduction of 92.2 per cent. Under this, there is a provision for complete removal of duty on non-agricultural products and substantial concessions on processed agricultural products. India has signed Trade and Economic Partnership Agreements (TEPA) with four developed countries – Switzerland, Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein. These countries are considered important economic powers in Europe. The agreements, aimed at promoting bilateral trade and investment, cover a wide range of goods, services and sectors.
7 Wrestling World Military Championships: India’s Ritika Hooda wins gold medal in women’s 76kg category
India has won a total of seven medals including three gold, one silver and three bronze medals in the World Military Championship in Armenia . India’s Ritika Hooda has won the gold medal in the women’s 76 kg category , Jyoti Sihag in the 55 kg category and Jaideep in the men’s 74 kg freestyle category . Subedar Sharwan has won the silver medal in the men’s 70 kg freestyle category. Shubham in the men’s 57 kg freestyle and Chandramohan in the 79 kg freestyle have won the bronze medal. Priyanka has won the bronze medal in the 68 kg women’s category. India sent a women’s team to the World Military Championship for the first time this year.
8 Asian Games bronze medalist Gulveer Singh won gold medal in Japan
Asian Games bronze medallist Gulveer Singh won the gold medal in the Hachioji long distance running event in Japan with a national record . 26-year-old Gulveer clocked 27 minutes 14.88 seconds to finish first in the race held at Hachioji near Tokyo and bettered his own national record. His previous national record in this event was 27 minutes 41.81 seconds , which he had set on March 16 this year in San Juan, USA.
9 Junior Hockey Asia Cup tournament will start from 26 November in Muscat, Oman
The Junior Hockey Asia Cup tournament will begin in Muscat, Oman from November 26. Defending champions India will play the tournament under the captaincy of Aamir Ali . Last year, India won the title for the fourth time by defeating Pakistan 2-1 in the final.
10 Special Olympics Asia Pacific Bocce and Bowling Competition in Delhi
For the first time, India is hosting the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Bocce and Bowling Competition from 19-22 November 2024 at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi . The event is for athletes from Asia-Pacific with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is the first time a competitive bowling competition has been held in India. 81 athletes from 12 countries from the Asia-Pacific region are participating in the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Bocce and Bowling Competition. The Special Olympics Asia Pacific Bocce and Bowling Competition was inaugurated by Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar on 19 November 2024.
