1 Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 introduced in Lok Sabha
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha on 3 December . This bill was also approved. Under this bill, there is a proposal to increase the number of nominees in a bank account . Under the current rules , only one person was allowed to be nominated for the deposit in the bank account or the items kept in the locker , but now people will have the option to add 4 nominees to their bank account . Depositors will now also have the facility of sequential nomination , that is, they will be able to add nominees one after the other at different times. This new bill also proposes 19 amendments in 5 existing laws for multi-state cooperative societies providing banking services and bank auditing etc. The five existing laws which are being amended are Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, Banking Regulation Act, 1949, State Bank of India Act, 1955, Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1970 and Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1980.

After the approval of the Central Government, Ratapani has been declared as the eighth tiger reserve area of Madhya Pradesh . Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that this is a big gift for Madhya Pradesh and now the state has become a tiger state in the true sense.
5 Skill Development Ministry recognizes Indian National Space Promotion Centre as official body
The National Council of Vocational Education and Training, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has officially recognized the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre as a body aimed at strengthening vocational education and training in the space sector. The MoU was signed in the presence of Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre functions as an autonomous agency under the Department of Space. This recognition of the institute as an official body will help in providing official recognition to specific training programmes. This will enable these training programmes to be strongly linked with key national initiatives like Skill India Mission. This collaboration will enable the institute to provide advanced training in areas such as satellite manufacturing, space technology in agriculture and mission design of launch vehicles.

In a significant development in the technology sector , Google LLC has announced the setting up of the Google Safety Engineering Center (GSEC) in Hyderabad . This will be the first advanced facility of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region outside Tokyo and the fifth in the world . The centre will be a global hub for cybersecurity based on advanced research, artificial intelligence-driven security solutions and innovative online security products. It is expected to play a transformational role in India’s cybersecurity capabilities.
7 China created the fastest running robot
China ‘s robotics company Robot Era has built a robot named STAR1 on December 3. This is the world’s fastest robot , which can run at a speed of 12.96 km per hour . This is faster than the speed of Tesla’s Humanoid Optics and Boston Dynamics’ Atlas i.e. 11.88 km per hour. STAR1 has defeated the H1 robot of Chinese company Unitri . The H1 robot set a record by running at a speed of about 12 kilometers per hour in March 2024.
8 Men’s Junior Hockey Asia Cup: India became champion for the fifth time by defeating Pakistan
India has won the Men’s Junior Hockey Asia Cup . In the final in Muscat, Oman, it defeated arch-rival Pakistan by 5 goals to 3. With this victory, India has won the title for the fifth time in this continental tournament . Earlier , India had won this championship in 2004, 2008, 2015 and 2023. For India, Arijit Singh Hundal scored four goals and was the hero of the victory, while Dilraj Singh scored one goal.
9 Indian Navy
Navy Day is celebrated every year on 4 December to recognize the role and achievements of the Indian Navy . On this day in 1971, during Operation Trident, the Indian Navy sank four Pakistani ships including PNS Khaibar. Hundreds of Pakistani naval personnel were killed in this operation.
10 Indian player Raj Manchanda, who won six national titles, passed away
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the demise of six-time Indian squash champion and Arjuna Award winner , retired Brigadier Raj Manchanda . Arjuna Awardee Raj Manchanda was one of the most recognizable faces in the Indian squash fraternity. He was the national champion for six consecutive times between 1977 and 1982. He also won an unprecedented 11 titles for the Army. During this period, Manchanda also represented India in Asian Championships and world-class tournaments and was awarded the Arjuna Award in 1983. Raj Manchanda led the Indian squash team to a silver medal in the 1981 Asian Team Championship held in Karachi and a bronze medal in the 1984 Asian Championship held in Jordan.
