The Legacy Continues: Announcement​


The Moot Court Committee at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU), Lucknow, is excited to announce the 3rd RMLNLU – S&A Law Offices International Arbitration Moot Court Competition, 2025 in collaboration with Society of Construction Law India as Theme Sponsor, Singapore International Arbitration Centre as Institutional Partner and Desai and Diwanji and MRP Advisory as Associate Sponsors.

Building on the success of the previous flagship event, the RMLNLU-SCC Online International Media Law Moot Court Competition, which was conducted for ten years, the university made a transition to a new subject matter- Arbitration Law. Since its inception, RMLNLU has garnered a stellar reputation within the mooting community, with numerous esteemed institutions and individuals associating themselves with the University’s Moot Court Committee.

The Force Behind: About the Organizers​


Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, established in 2005 by the State Legislature of Uttar Pradesh and inaugurated in 2006, is dedicated to fostering and spreading legal knowledge. The University aims to instill a sense of societal responsibility in its students while promoting cultural diversity in the field of law. In pursuit of its objectives, the University organizes its flagship event, the RMLNLU — S&A Law Offices International Arbitration Moot Court Competition.

The Moot Court Committee at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, serves as the official student-led entity, comprising members from all five batches of the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) program. Its primary responsibility involves organising and overseeing mooting activities and events within the University.

Format of the Moot​


As part of the competition, participating teams are required to duly submit their memorials. The final deadline for the submission of memorials is 27th January 2025. Following the memorial knockout rounds, the top 32 teams will proceed to the oral rounds scheduled to take place at the University campus from February 21 to 23, 2025.

The participating teams will go through two Preliminary Rounds of Arguments, the Quarter-Final Round of Arguments, the Semi-Final Round of Arguments, and ultimately, the Final Round of Arguments. Eminent lawyers and Judges of the highest standing in India, academicians, and experts in the field of arbitration law shall judges the various rounds of the Competition. In addition to substantial cash prizes, outstanding performers in the competition will have the opportunity to secure internships with distinguished organisations in the field of arbitration.

The Panel Discussion​


The Moot Court Competition will also be accompanied by a Panel Discussion in collaboration with Society of Construction Law India and Addleshaw Goddard. This discussion will explore pressing socio-legal issues in realm of arbitration, with a particular focus on topics related to Construction Arbitration. The panel will comprise of distinguished experts in arbitration law. The session will be accessible to all participating teams and will be broadcasted live on YouTube, offering valuable perspectives on contemporary legal and societal challenges in the realm of Construction Arbitration.

The Moot Proposition​


The Moot Proposition primarily deals with the intersection of arbitration and construction law, focusing on disputes arising from delayed project timelines, cost escalations, and breach of contractual obligations. It examines the enforceability of arbitration clauses, jurisdictional challenges, and the role of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

Registration​


The Institutions should provisionally register themselves by filling out the following Google form ( ) latest by January 7th, 2025.

Institutions qualifying the memorial knockout round must complete their final registration by sending an e-mail to rmlmootcourt@gmail.com, at the latest by February 12th, 2025 (23:59 hrs IST). The e-mail should include a scanned copy of the duly filled registration form.

Eligibility Criteria​


  • Open to students enrolled in three-year or five-year LL.B. programs or equivalent courses at recognized institutions in India or abroad.


  • Each institution is allowed to register only one team for the competition. Teams may consist of 2 or 3 members.


  • In a 2-member team, both participants will be designated as speakers.


  • In a 3-member team, two participants will be designated as speakers, and one will be designated as the researcher.


  • Additional members or team coaches are not permitted.
